Maybe it's a cultural thing, but over here an argument which boils down to "you either agree with me cause am rite, or if you dont it means you are wrong and you know nothing" is normally used by people with a below average IQ, schoolchildren between the age of 8 and 12 or members of the Conservative Party. What we like doing is to discuss the merits of the argument in question. Perhaps you could consider that when you are putting your posts together.

starting a whole new thread (when there's loads on Springsteen) to have a cry about how Bruce is better than Bon Jovi! Come on. Some of the Springsteen fans on this forum have come across as a little bit desperate in my opinion. They can't swallow that people might not actually like him!

When Springsteen first came onto the scene he was called the new Bob Dylan and the saviour of rock and roll by various music media and if you have a look at his lyrics on the first few albums you would be hard pushed to call the one dimensional or bland. A myriad of narratives, beat poetry and the flavour of where he came from, an artist cant do much more in my opinion. I listen to Springsteen as if i was reading a novel by say Steinbeck or Hemmingway. In fact the ghost of tom joad album is loosely based on the grapes of wrath i believe

A lot of the Springsteen fans do come over as rather zealous..i feel lucky that i love the Doves and Springsteen - or Elbow and Springsteen or anything else. I love music and I love talent.

Wow, i started a thread that actually took off! lol

However, it seems to have degenerated into a debate between people who like Bruce and people who don't. That's not really the point. I was just asking if people regarded him in the same light as copy cat artists who aren't as deserving of your respect as he is. That's the travesty.

If Springsteen isn't peoples' thing (like Neil Young isn't my thing), i have no qualms with that.
