NowhereMan
Blur are to release a new 'best of' which isn't that great news nor is it that relevant to this forum, buttt, perhaps it gives us an insight to what they will play on that sunday. It definitely tells us what the members believe are their best songs and i know in previous interviews Albarn and Coxon have talked about a couple of these and have said they are to play them (eg. Bugman). Either way it's the first physical release for popscene in the UK on an album. It will be released 15 June. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcomi...life_album.html

The Nal
I think they call this a money spinner!!!
Mr Ploppy
Yeah, what was wrong with the old greatest hits? Oh I know, its a different cover and the tracks are in a different order.
The Nal
Well, as time goes on - the hits get greater hence a valid reason for the new release and further re-issues during the coming years as the hits get even greater.
Wooderson
So like an "Even greater hits"? The old greatest hits is still available to buy. Why release another one? The Eagles do it every other year, and they're complete c**ts! Id expect more from Blur.
LRW
This collection shows the band in their true light, as the best band in England in the last 20 or so years.
let's 'ave it!!!
no charmless man or end of a century on that album, they will surely play these songs?
The Nal
And in attempting this theyve pretty much got it right - this will be a totally different experience for a new fan/listener in comparison. Joe Public hasnt heard these songs in YEARS chief. Your ire is misplaced here in a big way.
Wooderson
Check the tracklisting of both greatest hits. Nearly all the same songs. Do they expect people to go out and buy an album with Beetlebum, Coffee and TV, Girl and Boys, Tender, This is a Low etc again?!! Fair enough, theres a whole discs worth of stuff on there that hasnt been released as a best of before but surely they could've released those songs as Greastest Hits Part 2? Even Queen had the class to do that. At least they had the sense to leave Country House off this one!
The Nal
11 out of 25 is far from "nearly all the same songs". Edited May 22, 2009 by The Nal
somecoolusername
I mean nearly all the same songs from the first best of is on this one. Exactly why they shouldve just released a greatest hits part 2 and left those 11 off this one, theyre asking people to pay for a double album, half of the songs they may already own! Wooderson
You're completely wrong.
Kowalski
Thats a brave statement to make? Are you trying to say they are better than the likes of Steps, 2Unlimited and East17? i think ye jest!!
