Glasto Gazebo's

Took one for the first time in 2007 and it was a godsend with the rain that year. It's one between a camp of 15 of us so think that is fair enough for space. You can't get annoyed about randoms coming under it. Had some very attractive young ladies come and hide from the rain in 07, nice!

I bought a couple of £20 gazebos from B&Q for a barbeque on Sat, will def be taking one with me to Glasto. Should be OK for the 4 of us and any guests who stop by.

Whilst we are not proud of it (we were estremely drunk) we set fire to one at Reading a few years back.

It was in the way of everyone, had loads of tape round it and some idiot had put metal wire round the edges of it to keep people out. Plus the people were assholes!

Looking back it was perhaps a bit foolish but t got one hell of cheer in the campsite lol

I'll be taking my Tesco value gazebo which has been used at many events now, including 2 previous Glastos, so for the £12 it cost it owes me nothing. If it's windy it might break at Glasto and if it does the poles will go in the recycling bags and the cover in the rubbish. But all being well it will return with me to live another day.

Ever since my scouting days I've always insisted that all who camp with me sweep the area before we leave for all traces of rubbish.

Always take away everything and clean and store for next fest.

I've done site cleanups at other fests and am always horrified by the amount that gets left behind. Lazy slobs who buy cheap tents from ASDA for a tenner and can't be bothered to pack them up and take them home.

We finger pick our encampment and won't even leave a fag end let alone a tent peg when we go.

Maybe if everyone attendeing had to do a 15 minute litter pick during the fest it would make them think twice before dropping anything.

I'll be taking a Gazebo this year. The 2.4m one from Argos will fit my tent (about 4 metres long) and my 3 mates tents around each side. There is nothing worse that pitching while leaving a little room in the middle to sit and then waking up the next morning to find a completely random tent right outside your front door.

I don't think its too much to ask to have some space where you can sit outside your tent and the fact that it's a cover means any rain won't force us to be antisocial by hiding away! 2007 was the only year we've not brought one and we all spent most of it sat alone inside miserable cowering from the wet. It can't be that frowned upon by Glastonbury anyway because I can't see anything in the fine guide that you get with the ticket saying to not bring one - it only says it on the website which a lot of people won't be checking as religiously as most of us on here!

Edit: of course I'll be taking it home with me. We have one less, fairly sizeable, person in the car this year so more room to bring and take back luxuries!

do you guys all pitch gazebos at full height? we usually miss out the bottom poles to make it a bit safer against the wind (seen plenty blowing across the site in 2007) but thinking to maybe risk it this year for a bit more headroom.

This is all it says it the making camp bit in the fine guide - thanks for the link by the way r0cky, it's only proved that you're wrong.

"Some camping fields are very busy

and fill up quickly. If you want quiet –

to sleep - stewards at the gates will

advise you where to go. There is

usually more camping space to the

west of the site near the Park. If a

field is full, stewards will direct you

to an alternative camp site.

- Note where you camp in

relation to a numbered Fire

Point or other fixed point

or mark your camp with a

flag. It can be a nightmare

to find your tent without a

recognisable landmark.

-Say hello to your neighbours

to build a community

feeling and provide greater

security. Look after each other and

if someone is feeling ill, get help.

-Remember that tents are very vulnerable, even zipped up.

Padlocks scream “I have something worth nicking in here”.

-Thieving gits will find it harder if you take some basic precautions..."

Nothing about gazebos. On the actual website it says it in between the "make note of where you've camped" and the "make friends with neighbours" bits but nothing in the fine guide, unless its in another bit but that wouldn't make sense. As I say, if you're not a keen interneter and only read the fine guide, you'd have no idea that they're trying to discourage it!
