Cinema field pre 97

Where was the cinema field pre 97. I know I went there in 95 but that was my first year and then it moved and I'm trying to figure out where it used to be

not sure but in 94 i have a vivid memory of it being in or near a big camping field cos i was constantly stepping round tents and guy ropes

it was in sort-of the same field that the Pyramid is in for a while (not sure when exactly it moved) - although I say "sort-of the same field that the Pyramid is in", where I actually mean is diagonally opposite (across that crossroads) where leftfield was, behind Joe Bananas ... I used to walk up muddy lane a little, and then turn into that field, and there it was.

People's descriptions above are right.

One part of the confusion when this gets discussed is field naming. The map above shows it as 'Big Ground', however these days that's two fields: Big Ground at the top, and Kidney Mead at the bottom.

So in "today's money" it was at the bottom of Kidney Mead.

I clearly wasn't as addled as I thought then. That's slightly disappointing

i knew my memory was right....its obviosuly where i always camped! really strong memory of the field being bathed in a silvery light and me having to weave around peoples tents and ropes and legs sticking out

maybe this is a dumb question but can you camp near the cinema field? just wondered if anyone does, and when sitting at their campsite they could see the big screen!

I camped near the cinema field in '05 but that field was turned into family camping in '07. I couldn't see the screen but it was pretty noisy for most of the night with film noise.

Not sure about now that it has moved. I'm pretty sure there is camping around there but not sure you could see the screen! oh, plus I think the screen is inside now so I would say no way.

Yep - bottom corner of Big Ground as I used to camp a few years above it for a few years in '94, '95. Was just a bigish screen hung in front of thehedge / tree line at the bottom of the field where there was a little bit of a natural ampitheatre. Was ompossible to watch as there were always people walking across backwards and forwards to tents.
