Joe Strummer stone

A couple of mates have asked me to take a photo of it, they're big Clash fans. It's in the Shangri La field I think. Is it easy to find? Any directions would be helpful.

It's in Arcadia (near Shangri La). Walk up past the Jazz World Stage towards the Green Fields / Stone Circle, when you reach the railway track turn left, after about 100yds you drop down (to your right) into Arcadia. The Strummer Stone is straight ahead (follow the headgerow on the right). Hope this helps!

Shangri-la has three entrances, two of which lead up on the railway embankment (which is easily recognisable, as it is a road that you have to walk up/down to it). The Strummer stone is set just near the other entrance, the one that is not on the embankment.

Probably the easiest way to find it is to come in the main entrance, off the embankment, which is probably how you will first find Shangri-la anyway, if you haven't been there before. Head down, but instead of following the crowd into Shangi-la, hang a right and then walk on for about 50 metres. Usually there's a few sofa's with people chilling out on them, walk past that.

The stone itself is a modest affair, about a metre tall, tucked in under some trees.

If you are having trouble finding it, just ask someone. Someone there will certainly be able to point it out - and you might make some friends along the way.

Ps. If you see a crashed plane, you've gone the wrong way!

If you fire up GlastoEarth, you should be able to see the location in there as well.

I sure hope that Strummerville itself is back properly this year. It was heartbreaking

to have the fire, the wee wooden hut with the DJ [Andy Dunkley] and even the stage,

all but wiped out by the crass changes in Shangri La last year :P
