Drink spiked at glasto

I've been wondering for a while whether to post this or not but I'm curious to know whether anyone has heard of or experienced anything similar. Back in glasto 07 my brother went to the bar (to the right of the stage if looking at the pyramid) and bought us some ciders. Half an hour later he was, well, not himself. At first we thought he was pissed, but after 6 hours of 'running away' we realised he really wasn't. By midnight he was sliding around in the mud and taking down anyone in sight. Take my word for it, this was completely unlike my brother. And before anyone suggests it, no he didn't take anything (he never has). Needless to say this was a really sad way to end the festival (and my birthday) and he remembers none of it, just trying to sleep and being terrified (he's 25)!!

Has anyone else ever heard of anything similar??

Despite this, glastonbury is still my favourite place on earth!

Never heard of such a thing at Glastonbury. I find it very difficult to believe that a stranger would do it. I mean, why would you? Have you considered the possibility one of your 'friends' did it, then didn't own up when it turned out to be less funny than they hoped.

A friend of mine did take something in 2007, she thought it was E, turns out it wasn't and she ended her festival experience being terrified of her own reflection and had to have someone pick her up early so I think there was definitely something going round. She was bad for days and whenever water touched her skin or she drank water she came back up again. Now while she wasn't spiked like your brother was it does sound like the same reaction. Be careful out there guys! x

There can only be 1 of 2 things that happened there.

1.somebody managed to spike your brothers drink rite on front of his face when he was carrying the drinks etc

or

2.(most likely to be honest )he isn't telling you the whole story.

I've got to admit, that was my first thought as well. I'm not really sure anyone would want to spike the drink of a random guy who was just going to disappear into the crowd, though I suppose anything is possible.

Some brands of drink can affect people in unexpected ways. I had to give up Newcastle Brown when I realised it made me suddenly and completely off my tits after about 6 pints (not something that happens with other beers).

The majority of the responses to this so far are pretty alarming. Why would anyone choose to do this to someone? God only knows, people who do that kind of thing are sick c****. Not everyone who goes to Glastonbury is gonna be nice. Could his drink have been spiked right under his nose? TO RIGHT IT COULD. Anything can happen if your not looking out for it. Iv seen it happen.

The chances of this happening to you given the numbers of people there, and (fair enough) the fact that it is not in fitting with the glasto vibe (ethos, whatever you want to call it) are extremely slim.

If however it happened to someone you know you would want to be taken seriously.

It does happen everywhere. Be carefully, usual rules should still apply - don't make it easy for someone to do it.

I guess you can only take my word for it, the guy has been anti-drugs since the day he was born and would never have taken anything.

The mystery will never be resolved! But I urge you all to make sure you see your own drink being poured

Maybe you are correct and I'm just a cynic but in all my years I have never heard of any bar at any pub/club/gig/festival spiking anybody, especially Glastonbury. It is also strange it was only your brother. Just seems a bit suspect to me.

If you are to be believed that is very strange but to an outsider it just seems like a brother not willing to come clean to a sibling.

Everything points to an esctasy/alcohol mix. Went(alone)to get drinks, 30 minutes later not himself(Es take 30-60 minutes to take affect), memory loss, high energy(running away, 6 hours), restlessness(trying to sleep), anxiety(terrified) etc

Now when you mix alcohol and esctasy you can trigger their affects and make them a lot stronger than usual which answers a lot of his actions, especially the aggression in taking people down and his memory loss.

Wouldnt most tablets when dissolved leave some kind of after taste or maybe even crap on the top of your drink?

I have heard Rohypnol doesn't but I reckon an E would leave some kind of shite floating around and if not, I reckon you'd be able to taste something dodgy with your drink.

I don't know though .. just a thought.

My friend's drink was spiked at trash city last year.

He was okay the next day though.

Same rules for real life apply - just always keep an eye on your drink.
