Yeah you go away thinking "wow Carling what a great bunch of folks". You tell your pals how you swapped a 27p can of 2% Supermarket own brand for a can of Carling. Your mates go "wow those Carling folks are a nice bunch eh?". They tell their pals. It's advertisement on the ground, rather than on the wall or TV.
