newagehippie
Mainly related to this year but feel free to mention past times. This year i've been doing a lot of flicking through the rumours and checking out bands I don't know and have found myself loving a fair few acts. For example the dub pistols i now can't wait to see at glasto but i had never heard their music before the rumourlist. Cagedbaby seem pretty funky also. From past years I discovered Metric and Ladytron from the reading rumourslist in past years as well. Any gems you've found?
anx
mmmm I just got into the dub pistols as well! Mostly because of The Specials playing glasto/t in the park though, with Terry hall! Looking forward to seeing both like crzy
Monkismo
Hundred Reasons, The Vines, Beverley Knight, Monkey Mafia, Dizzee Rascal, The Seahorses, Beck, Biffy Clyro, BRMC, Coldplay (didn't everyone in 2000?), Belle & Sebastian. Too many to mention actually - I always have to buy about 10 albums straight after the fest to relive the sets I've just seen.
Macca87
Neil Young 6 Day Riot Florence and the Machine Also, Ive got into Blur a lot more than I was before they were announced as headliners
dieweener
Thanks to that Spotify efestivals playlist, i've gotten in to The King Blues, Fight Like Ape, Florence and The Machine, The Specials and Animal Collective. I will definitely be taking a look at all of them this year over the likes of bands I love and seen before. I will more than likely be seeing them by myself as my mates haven't heard any of them bu I can always hope to convert!

glastoman417
Alabama 3, I know a lot of people knew them through the Sopranos theme, but I don't watch much tv so they were new to me!

remote
The Subways after seeing them in 2004. This year it's got to be Bruce, I'd say that'll be the case for a fair few people this year.

dieweener
Fight Like Apes is my album of the year! If you like that maybe you'd like Sky Larkin as well - try Pica to start with and the love will come! Hope they both play! newagehippie
Hmm, bizarrely, iTunes recommended Sky Larkin when I played them so I will definitely take a listen. Cheers for that. I liked them purely because they reminded me of The Grates, who I've heard nothing from in 3 years so it was nice and refreshing to hear Fight Like Ape. Edit: Just listened to Pica and Beeline and buying the album, cheers Monkismo! That's another one I got into thanks to the spotify playlist. Whoever made that list is a legend! Strangely, my gf can't seem to get her head around emiliana torrini, which is weird because that's the sort of thing she would normally go for. Eh, whatever! newagehippie
It's truly is. And yeah, totally agree with you about The King Blues, love them! Probably like them even more because the album cover gives you the impression it's chavy car music and then it's the complete opposite, it's actually really really good! harper11
not many to be honest i find festivals arent great for that usually support bands at normal gigs is where you see new bands on the rise maybe cribs and cold war kids to some extent at glasto
Storm_NL
The Automatic The Whip Babyhead Probably a bunch more, but I can't remember at the moment..
StormCrow
Alabama 3, I didn't have a clue who they were until I saw them in 2005 I've now seen them about 8 times since then.
dieweener
I'm not too much of a fan of the new album, its good but nothing as masterful as Mr Music Man and Come for Da Youth.
ukslim
Nice to see Texan cowboys coming to our little British festival, anyway. (judging by the word "gotten" -- any chance of a 'tarnation' in the next thread?)
Billy09
Wasn't really into Orbital before seeing them in '95, but became totally addicted to them after that and haven't missed them play since. Them followed by the Prodigy after a quick dash to the other stage was one of the best nights of my life. Gutted they're not playing this year, and sightly let down by the "too commercial" excuse, especially when they must have made a bomb on that live at glastonbury box set they released, seems very hypocritical. Oh well. On a different note, Biggles Wartime Band on the bandstand last year was hilarious. Bought their CD after the gig, and have impressed many people with it, including, bizarrely, my father in law. See they're playing loads of times this year, recommend them highly! staggerlee
Good thread. Hearing Alabama 3 were playing last year I started listening to them and now I'm a dedicated fan. Also the same with Neil Young.
