Realistic suggestions for new acts

As i think we've all noticed by now, efestival users (particularly those on the V forum) have been immensely critical of the festival organizers. So putting yourself in the shoes of these lazy gets, what acts would you have tried to book to icrease the diversity and improve the quality of V 2009. Remember don't just post ridiculous suggestions that not even Glastonbury could persuade. I'm looking for realistic suggestions here...

We wont get any well known names that much is clear.

I dont know if anyone watches NME TV on sky, but they have a show called RADAR. I reckon we will likely see acts from there.

The biggest act i can think of that might realistically be announced is someone like lightspeed champion, but i havnt yet checked if he's doing reading/leeds or whether or not he's busy that weekend

to make it more diverse put bands because you already have a splattering of indie/dance/pop, I would suggest getting acts to play from the jazz/world stage or the like from glastonbury/womad/cambridge folk etc etc

acts like terry callier, eric bibb, beth orton, alabama 3, ethoipiques(amazing), joan armastrading, manu chao, egg, lamb and more bands like that.

and yes I know people will say v organisers will never book them bands or t v crowd wouldnt like them...but It would attract a more varied punter and a more interesting lineup.

If what wiki has done is the line up im a very happy man

the problem I have with V being lazy is that now its sold out, they don't give a f**k, one half arsed announcement which wasn't even clear what it ws on the official site, and different names on the efestiavls press release and even then the acts that efestivals said they didn't even put up on their line up page on efests like Matt Tracker and Mr Hudson

They made the new website [V did] and then they need nothing with it at all

They're just f**king awful with after sales, and info on the festival in advance

I wish, I truely wish I had that job for a living, media for V festival and running that website, cus I could do a much better job deciing what goes on their, they said AGES ago they were going to show past live V performances on there, they've never done it ever

and when they make anew announcement they don't even DO a new announcement on there! just theres been some new acts added to the bill have a look at the line up page you might spot them

only problem is, they'd most likely do reading instead of V....

Think we may still get bands the caliabre of Super Furrys, Idlewild, Ash, Public Enemy...but not massively optimistic...

The wiki line up put into the timetable rhysieg does on the Staffs group looks like this and if thats the case then theres not really any space for those acts sadly cus Id like all for four on the above on the bill

What I would do if I was in charge of V:

-Swap Strongbow with Thatchers.

-Make the Strongbow tent the Thatchers tent and fill it with ebm and industrial music.

-Make the Festival three days.

-Get rid of NDubs, Katy Perry and all the bad pop acts.

-List the bad pop acts as still playing but in a new fab looking tent.

-When the people go in the tent to see the terrible pop acts one of the following would happen:

- A. Firing Squad.

- B. The people who go there get fitted with straight jackets and taken to an asylum for having chronic bad taste in music.

- Add Metallica to the lineup.

- Add Nine Inch Nails to the lineup.

- Add Electric Six to the lineup.

- Add Motorhead to the lineup.

- Make the Bacardi arena play a fine array of refined classical music.

- Add the Cure to the lineup.

- Add AC/DC to the lineup.

- Make the funfair cheaper and play rock and 80's music instead of crappy dance music thats too loud to talk to your friends.

- Add an 80's disco.

- Add REM to the lineup.

- Add Alice Cooper.

- Have a big massive slide that takes you from the top of green camp right down to the middle of the arena.

I still think the headliners of the Arena look lightweight compared to previous years. MGMT & 2 Many DJs are fine enough but.....maybe the lack of a sponsor is the clue here.

So first off I'd have Massive Attack and Manic Street Preachers to headline the Arena. Both have clear schedules on the V weekend last time I looked.

All the following could have been realistic at the outset. I doubt we'll get any. If we got one or two it'd make me a happy bunny:

The Parlor Mob

I think they'd have the right attitude and energy for festivalling, realistic in one sense, but I think they might be too heavy for V *sigh* and they're in America...

and

Lady of the Sunshine aka Angus Stone

would be a beautiful sound if the weather was great...
