Anyone taking a DSLR this year?

I'm having great difficulty deciding what camera gear to take this year. I've pretty much settled on leaving my Nikon D300 at home because it's too big, so I'm going to take my D40 instead. Last year I took the kit lens but this year I think I'm going to brave it and take my 18-200 superzoom and Sigma 30mm f/1.4. Added to that, I'm really tempted to hire a wide angle for the week. I think the flashes can stay at home. Now I just need to decide on a bag.

Decisions, decisions. Anyone in the same boat as me?

Well I'm taking my D300 again this year I'm undecided about the battery grip though but I probably will take that as well as I'm really used to it now.

Just bought a Nikon 17-55mm so I'm taking that and my 70-300mm VR and my Sigma 10-20mm.

As for bags I've got about 5 I used my slingshot 200 last year, it was great for the camera but there was little room for other stuff so for this year I've just bought a Lowepro 350 fastpack and it will have its first outing tomorrow. First impressions are its just what I need for Glastonbury as it has a good sized camera compartment and it also has a good sized compartment that will hold my poncho etc.

I'm actually now wondering if I will be able to get away with a smaller version of the fastpack so that will probably be bag number 6!!!!!!

I have an old Canon 20D that is my "backup" camera which I will be taking with a couple of lenses, a 17-40mm f4L and an older 28-135mm IS - I will be leaving behind a few more expensive lenses. Idea being, I am not going to kill myself if they get nicked or knocked around, I can claim on insurance if necessary. Gonna keep memory cards on my person while sleeping etc. I took the 20D to Glasto last time (2007) and it worked a treat.

I have a smaller camera bag (an over the shoulder purse type one) that just holds camera + attached lens, with another lens shoehorned in. This usually - at festivals - gets put into a larger daybag with other stuff (jumpers etc). So no obvious camera bag to attract attention, not that I am too worried about it.

I also take a compact camera for those times when you simply can't be arsed - or fear you may be too irresponsible - to cart your big kit around. Big kit gets stuck in the lockup for a while.

Only change to my kit this year may be the addition of a Gorillapod. Can't see myself bringing even a travel tripod, but you never know. Certainly not my big Manfrotto jobbie.

I *may* be bringing my Nikon D90 with me.....

....then again, it's an expensive piece of kit, which means I'll probably be too scared to leave it in my tent, and end up lugging it around with me 24/7...

Otherwise, it's my little ploppy Casio...

Which, to be fair, can take some nice piccies. :D

EDIT :

Ooooh! And as for camera bags, I can highly recommend Crumpler.

I'm becoming quite a fan. :D

Dont forget you can put it in the lock-ups chappy!

I am taking my little Sony DSC H3. I took it last year and got some great shots but without having to lug a huge thing around. I am thinking of getting a couple of new lenses for it though.

I'd say that if you are a reasonably responsible person and a photo nut, and you are on the fence about bringing your DSLR, then bring it. I know from last time that enough people bring them now that you'll spend the whole weekend wishing you'd brought it. As long as you put it away when you think you might be entering the Irresponsibility Zone, you should be fine.

I wouldn't have been able to get shots like these with a compact camera (well at least not most compact cameras):

Will be taking a Canon EOS 450 this year for the first time. Can someone give me a quick run down on the lock ups - cost etc. Have been going to Glasto for 20 years but will be the first time I've used a locker. Walked past them on the way up to Pennards, in the bottom corner of Home ground, i think. They'd be most convenient.

im taking mine, only with the standard lens though cos i know from experience how annoyed i'll get taking it everywhere if theres too much weight. i'm only taking it cos i seem to have mislaid my little one! im so angry at mysel! but i will remember to take a memory card this time, saves a trip to the shopping centre and back!!

Taking a DSLR, 24-70, and either 70-200 or 120-300 lenses. Want a photo backpack that is half photo kit layout and half daypack (for poncho, water, beers etc.).

Recommendations for such a backpack? Rather pay more for good protection than save money and potentially suffer damage from knocks etc.

cheers
