Well chuffed about Regina Spektor. Hope my shifts don't clash with her or Madness - but can't count on that!

Great line up IMO and nicely spread out! I recommend people see Bon Iver - he was fantastic at End of the road last year.

I take it that the lineup for Glasto on this site is just for the major stages? Would anyone be able to recommend anywhere (or any bands worth checking out) that would be good places for rock, punk, metal and suchlike?

I can see what people are getting at. Glastonbury has always felt a bit like of an officianados festival, at least compared to the biggger festivals. This years lineup is chock full of these types of bands, which is why its a great lineup for those who love bands which aren't big in the music press and away from the public eye.

I do feel for those who feel dissapointed by it all, but to be fair, a lot of people have been dissapointed by previous festival lineups, and a lot of these people seem more than satisfied by this year so I wont be rubbing it in, and I suggest others don't either

Relatively speaking I am not at all impressed by this years line-up. Of course I will have a good time and of course there are loads of acts I want to see (Bon Iver, White Lies, Neil Young to name but three) its just I don't think its as strong as the last two line-ups based on the bands and acts I really like. The main stages are where you get your memories and there are too many avergare acts too high up the order. I also think dance music has been abit let down not a fan of the noise of Pendulum or the Prodigy and not enough quality live acts in the dance tents (although plenty of good DJs).

Before someone says 'its not about the music' I would disagree. It is a lot about the music as that is the main reason why the festival is so popular and important. The other stuff is brilliant but is a consequence of the amazing music from established and new acts.

This is just my opinion and is not a threat to anyones love of Glastonbury, I know you can't please everyone all the time and it'll still be the best week of the year!

Ok, so now the line up has been released i have to say i'm disapointed.. I love Glastonbury so much, and that is why i return year after year, but the line up just isn't up to scratch for people into alternative music/new bands.. Quite often for me i'm not too fussed about headliners on the 2 main stages (aprt from Bjork, radiohead, White stripes, Blur in recent years) but there has always been a LOAD of other stuff to see in the other stages- Jazzworld, dance tents, John peel stages esp. But this year it seems to be alot of boring indie bands in the day and not much of the exciting new music out there...

Saying that Thursdsay's line up at the Queens head looks good, Animal collective, and NickCave/Blur on Sunday will be amazing, but can't help but feel it's a very middle of road line up this year..

Bruce/ Neil young are VERY safe oldies, what happened to Grace Jones and Sonic Youth appearing on the line up?

This really isn't a moan however, as i will have an AMAZING time anyway as i love the place so much, but wanted to see if any other people felt the same?

To be honest aside from Madness and The Prodigy (who I've seen 3 times before) there isn't much there that makes me jump and go "WOW I really want to see them"

I think though Glastonbury tries to cater for all genres of people that attend the festival, so your never going to please everyone. I remember going to Reading in 2002 and watching over 25 bands that I enjoyed watching...the following year I watched around 10. The line up isn't going to please you every time!

Like all things festivals are going to have years when the bookers get lucky with when bands are touring or free to all do the festival and it makes for a great line up for those just interested in the main stages or watching at home on TV. Other years thing wont' work their way and the line up won't seem as good as others.

On another note it would be good to see some more "rock" music there though...something like the Foo Fighters or maybe even someone like Green Day...who both have plenty of "anthems" that non-fans would recognise....must agree that it gets a bit samey after a while with stuff like franz ferdinand, maximo park, bloc party, the killers etc rearing their heads at virtually every Glasto or Reading I go to!

People are always going to be disappointed by Glastonbury lineups. That's because its not a specialist festival, it has to cater for everyone. That means that there is only going to be a certain number of a bands of a certain genre. If Glastonbury only booked big name rock acts every year then it would become boring and people would start criticising it for that. If it didn't book the big name acts then people would stop buying tickets and it would be criticised for that.

There is never ever going to be a lineup that is going to be perfect. And to be fair, every year at every festival, there are a large amount of people saying the lineup is bad.

Just appreciate the fact that Glastonbury has such a diverse selection of acts on offer.

In 84 people were complaining about The Smiths playing the Pyramid.

In 92 people were complaining about Shakespear's Sister headlining the Pyramid.

In 2000 people were complaining about the Pet Shop Boys playing the Pyramid.

In 2009 people are complaining about all manner of acts playing/not playing the Pyramid.

That's 25 years of complaining. Will someone please think of the children?

The lineup is first class. Maybe not quite as diluted with new bands this year but the quality in depth is clearly there. The only thing I can complain about is that there wont be enough time for me to rest and chillout as I will always know I'm missing something! It is ten times better than last year and I still enjoyed last year's profusely.

Got to say if you dislike that lineup you really misunderstood what type of festival Glasto was. People need to open their minds and expand their musical knowledge. One of the best lineups I have ever seen.
