I'm amazed by the response

Every time I've seen Prodigy, both indoors and out they have been amazing. Though it got to the stage where I'd seen them so many times that I started to get a bit bored (Reading '98 was the final straw I think).

However, I haven't seen them for over 10 years now, so am really looking forward to seeing them again.

Blur have never really done it for me. Such an overrated band in my opinion. They have some very good songs, but most of it is average. Also, anyone I've ever spoken to who has seen them live say they are crap live.

Seen both bands once before:

Blur supporting REM at Milton Keynes back in 94 and they were fantastic, Damon made a real connection with the crowd and musically they were spot-on.

Saw Prodigy at IW Festival in 2006 and was sorely disappointed, I'd heard a lot of good things about them live and was looking forward to it - the stage show and lighting was very good, but just got the feeling that it was covering up for what basically amounted to two blokes swearing at the audience over a dance beat for an hour or so.

I've asked everyone i know in the last 3 days, if you had a choice, prodigy or blur.....

no-one said blur out of maybe 50/60 people

even my dad said prodigy

so im asking this question to nail it for me......

have you ever been to...

a bad blur show

a bad prodigy show

or are both always on it?

ps sorry for another prodigy blur thread..but it is a forum of discussion and it would get lost in other threads i feel

I've seen them both, and in fact my first ever *big* festival they both headlined. Back at V97 in Chelmsford Blur headlined the first night, and Prodigy headlined the second. (I think it was that way around, but I was very very wasted, so my memory might be telling porkies!)

When I went there that year I was very much an indie fan rather than a dance fan. Watching Blur was brilliant, they played all the favourites and were great on stage. Then the second night came and Prodigy headlined and even though I had never really listened to their music other than the singles on the radio, they were absolutely awesome! It was one of those sets like when you see Faithless play and you get goose bumps when certain tracks come on :D

I left V97 thinking that the Prodigy set was actually better than the Blur one, even though at the time Blur were up there with my favourite bands.

Since then I've seen both bands a couple of times, Blur indoors at the BIC in Bournemouth, and they were brilliant there, and then again at Reading I think it was. The Reading show was pretty dull, and I left half way through to catch another band.

Prodigy I saw again at Reading, and they had a drummer and a guitarist on stage??! I mean what's all that about? I thought they were a dance group? Suffice to say I thought they were pretty rubbish, and again I saw them I think at V a few years back when they weren't much better.

I think I'm gonna see Blur this year, I like the final night to be a bit more relaxing, which I think Blur will be. And it's always nice to have a good sing-along right at the end of the festival. Also with Coxon back hopefully it'll make it a good'n

It's a tough one. Seen the Prodigy 3 times, and Blur about 6(I think). Blur have never failed to impress, and the Prodigy are awesome on top of their game. Seen both indoors and out. The low point of the lost was the Prodigy in 97 at Glastonbury. I just thought they were poor. I will decide at the time. Had to do the same with the Chemical Brothers and The Who a couple of years back, still wonder how good The Chemical Brothers were, but know I'll never see The Who again, so probably made the right decision. Even if it did end up with the first fall into the mud of the weekend when they played Pinball Wizard. Last night too. Bugger.

I saw a bit of the Prodigy at some festival or other - probably Glastonbury. It might as well have been iTunes with a couple of blokes shouting over the top of it.

The people around me seemed to be enjoying themselves though.

I'm in two minds about seeing Blur. I'm very keen on about half their albums.

I've never seen Blur and three times Prodigy. Prodigy is like no other act able to create immense energy. BUT, the first time is most special. second and third time became less. Blur is likely to become a more legendary gig.

Blur for me.

Saw Blur at Glasto 98, they were pretty good and on top of their game. Had numerous chances to see The Prodigy. Tempted to go see them so that I can compare now! But it's Sunday night and I like to finish my festival with a nice come down which I think Blur will provide.

Seen Prodigy out of the doors and they was 'ansome. Never seen The Blur but will at Glastonbury for a few reasons already well covered on here.

Plus - the last couple of years I've put the old mobility scooter into high gear, gunned the electric starter button and high tailed it round to the Other Stage for the last few numbers. In 07 we did The Who , exit stage right, caught Standing in the Way of Control from the big lass and her spanner carrying friends at JP(lots of ladies wearing dungarees and sporting a quiff and big lasses with bob hair cuts, horned rimmed glasses and deely boppers and Grandadcollective was mighty confused!) Then me and The Nurse had a bop to that lovely young Carl Cox (with some kids who seemed to be preoccupied with whatever was under their shoes or else trying to swat midges which can be bothersome in the summer months) and when that ended, low and behold the closing strands of the Chemicals set (and some slight upset when we realised we could have caught 30mins of it while pretending to be festival salmon swimming up stream through a current of wild and wide eyed loons!) but hey ho you can't have it all can you.

It's like my dear old Mum used to say to me 'Chance your arm Grandad, chance your arm and you never know!' SAGE my dear old Mum, sage, which probably explains why she got eaten by slugs! I hate Slugs, And his band! Madness! They'll know the meaning If I bump into the bastards this year.
