Sam Crawley
Bloomin' marvellous all.. had to sit through a couple of crap warm-up acts, and tolerate the terrible acoustics of the Union Chapel in Islington.. but when it finally happened... my goodness.. fan-friggin-tastic! Gilmour was exactly what you'd expect, and Amadou and Miriam were loving it, working their way through several of their classics that I recognised from Spotify. Amadou was great on his golden guitar. Strongly recommend them for their Pyramid set...

llcoolphil
Good to hear; Saw Gilmour was doing a collaboration with them; was kinda intrigued how he'd fit in as Amadou's guitar style is rather different to Gilmour's. I guess it was all amadou & mariam's material they played? How'd Gilmour fit in etc?

ralph250
It was definitely Amadou and Miriam with some famous guitarist supporting them. That said most of the crowd were clearly there because of Gilmour. Amadou and Gilmour both had their solos, more for Gilmour, but nothing compared to the songs where they were all just jamming. Amadou's solos were more integrated into the song, whereas Gilmours were more a question of everyone stepping back whilst the great man played some Floydian chords. Nutbag of a bass guitarist, and an excitable dreadlocked chap holding a drum.. Apologies but I don't know the song names, but I've listened to their most popular tracks on Spotify and recognised several. Fantastic.. A&M were absolutely FAB. brilliant headline slot and got everyone dancing which continued long after. i think they r better suited to smaller stages personally altho they will rock pyramid anywayz! shame on their crappy slot! scmusic
I was there too last night, more as an A&M fan than as a Floydie. I got the impression quite a few people there were hanging on for a Floyd- or Gilmour-focused set or at least 50-50, but I was happy as Larry that it was Amadou & Mariam's night. I got a few bits and pieces on video, including one of their jam riffs between Gilmour and Amadou:

Sam Crawley
This is the Press Association's report on it: David Gilmour debuts solo material David Gilmour performed material from his new debut solo album for the first time at Crisis' Hidden Gig. The former Pink Floyd rocker joined Amadou and Mariam on stage at London's Union Chapel for the homeless charity's concert on Monday night, performing a selection of their new music as well as his track No Way, played live for the first time. The crowd responded with a standing ovation when they came back on stage for an unrehearsed encore. He performed his work? It wasn't obvious to me (brilliant though the whole set was) And thanks for posting the Youtube clip, scmusic, really captured the vibe, well done!! Sam Crawley
Incidentally if anyone is interested it looks like most of the rest of the gig is up on Youtube if you search for Amadou Miriam Gilmour.
