Is there too much 'Dad-Rock' this year?

Have they got the balance wrong?

  1. 1. Are there too many heritage acts on in 2009?

That depends very much whether you perceive it so. I for one have no problem or stigma attached to music that my Dad may have at one time listened to. On a slightly different tack it would be possible to suggest it has 'uncool' connotations, but only a moron would assume that just because something is not currently fashionable it also means its inherently bad. (Or for that matter if something is in trend it is inherently good).

Yeeh, there is too much for the older crowd. I would preffer more 'younger' acts. That being said, I cant wait regardless.

It's been said a million times before, but this festival is not just about the music. Untill you've actually been there and seen it for yourself, you wont understand.

One of my earliest memories was hitting soma saucepans to whatever you want by status quo when I was younger.

I love dad rock and am looking forward to that more then anything! (had a little spat with the missus last night when I cordially informed her that wild horses wouldn't be able to drag me to see Lady gaga, disco stick or no disco stick!)

Been brought up on the stuff! I am going to stand up and be counted and say I will be watching the Quo on whatver day they are on (unless its Sat and they clash with Rolfy!) Tbh...have been waiting all my Glastonbury going years for a line up like this one. Just a shame Fleetwood Mac and Coldplay arent putting in an appearance!

:) Ducks for cover! :)

I have no problem with the lineup this year, and have no problems with my parents taste in music. I'm particularly upset that Fleetwood Mac aren't playing, and have my mum to thank for my love of them.

That said, "Dad Rock" sounds like something Jeremy Clarkson would listen to, and that's not good.

Well it's true to say that more older people tend to think the line up is better than others I talk to it about. But theres still Blur, Brand New, Roots Manuva, Ladyhawke, Yeah Yeah Yeahs + possibilities of N.E.R.D and Placebo and thats just a handfull of bands that I'm looking forward to (and for the record thats more bands right there than I'm looking forward to at Reading which is aimed at teenagers).

It's just that the Pyramid Stage has a lot of the sort of 'dad rock' bands everyone is talking about which gets the attention of those who arn't going. How many people who are going have you heard complain?
