Curious for my own sake, but it'll be interesting to see whether the lineup additions are as bad as most people think, or whether we are actually seeing a lot of great music and haven't took time to calculate it!

For me:

Friday

Kings Of Leon (Main Stage) - Really got into them of late, mainly through OBTN and BOTT, looking forward <ahttp://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/uploads/emoticons/default_laugh.png' alt=''> Excitement Rating = 4/5

Placebo (Main Stage) - One of my favourite bands ever, haven't seen them since 2004, yet worried the setlist will be too Meds/BFTS-centric Excitement Rating = 4/5

Saturday

Rise Against (Lock-Up) - I really like the Arctics, but that's going to be packed. Rise Against, despite some of their irritating lyrical themes are a band I enjoy a lot. Be good to finish up one of my nights with a lot of energy! Excitement Rating = 4/5

Thursday (Lock-Up) - Great band criminally overlooked by many due to the average fringe length of their post 2003 fan base. Excitement Rating = 4/5

Rival Schools (Lock-Up) - Crafted one of my favourite teenage albums, never seen, should be great. Excitement Rating = 4/5

Metric (R1) - I really like Live It Out, and I'm gonna pick up their new cd soon. Be good to watch someone a little less 'energetic' than the rest of the day... Excitement Rating = 3/5

Delphic (R1) - Right now the closest I'm going to get to anything remotely electronic at the festival. Enjoyed them thoroughly supporting Deadmau5 Excitement Rating = 3/5

Sunday

Radiohead (Main) - One of the greatest bands of all time. I know every track inside out, great live band too Excitement Rating = 5+/5

Bloc Party (Main) - Yeah I know they play every year, but I've never seen them. Excitement Rating = 4/5

Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Main) - Have made some of the best albums of the decade, and put on a great live show. Excitement Rating = 5/5

Vampire Weekend (Main) - Released one of my favourite albums of the past few years, and I've never caught them. Excitement Rating = 4/5

Brand New(Main) - Ignoring the immature and forgettable debut album, Brand New are one of my favourite bands and always put on a good live show Excitement Rating = 5/5

So, at the moment there's 12 acts I do really want to catch, 10 of which I'm really excited about. Plus there's still the FR stage to come which should have a few decent little bands to catch. I'm quite happy the way each day is a little better than the last leading up to the Sunday which is just immense! However, I can see this being my last ever Reading festival...

i'm a bit hesitant to do this because of potential clashes, but what the heck

i'm at leeds btw, and i'm listing the bands i'm pretty sure i will definitely end up seeing. i'm comfortable seeing all of these bands, i'm not being dragged along to anything i don't want to see. so if i rate something 1 or 2, it's not because i'm not looking forward to it, it's just because i'm not looking forward to them as much as the others.

Friday

Arctic Monkeys / The Prodigy (Main Stage) - This is going to be special. Two brilliant bands. The atmosphere will be incredible, this is a really solid pairing.

Excitement factor: 4/5

Maximo Park (Main Stage) - Saw them put on a very energetic performance last year at V Festival, and will likely see them to get a good spot for The Prodigy. Not a massive fan but I like a few songs, enough to make me look forward to see them.

Excitement factor: 2/5

Ian Brown (Main Stage) - With songs like F.E.A.R and Illegal Attacks, there's no way I could miss this.

Excitement factor: 3/5

Enter Shikari (Main Stage - Currently one of my favourite bands after seeing them on their recent small venue tour and after hearing the solid new album. Unfortunately I'm not very enthusiastic about them being on the main stage though, which has lowered my expectations. They're very much a smaller, indoor, community-feel band. I'm afraid this could be lost on an outdoor stage, but should still be a decent performance either way.

Excitement factor: 4/5

Fightstar (Main Stage - A decent band which I think are alright, and I have quite a few friends who want to see them. Should be a good early band.

Excitement factor: 2/5

Saturday

Radiohead (Main Stage) - Currently my favourite band. Have not seen them before, but I'm confident that it will be the highlight of my festival.

Excitement factor: 5/5

Bloc Party (Main Stage) - Saw them perform an amazing gig earlier this year. Have not seen them in a festival atmosphere, but I'm hoping for the best.

Excitement factor: 4/5

Brand New (Main Stage) - Just seeing them perform is good enough for me, in any setting! Missed out on tickets for the current tour and don't have the funds at the minute to grab some, so am very happy about this placement.

Excitement factor: 4/5

The Gaslight Anthem (NME/R1) - Amazing band, have been listening to The 59 Sound a lot lately, Great Expectations sounds like a potentially great live song.

Excitement factor: 4/5

Sunday

Kings of Leon (Main Stage) - Not a massive fan but I like some of their songs, especially the earlier material. Will likely enjoy. Despite what other people think, I believe the new material will be the highlight of their set because of the reaction.

Excitement factor: 2/5

Kaiser Chiefs (Main Stage) - Again, not a huge fan but saw them put on a brilliant performance last year. My interest since has hit rock bottom though.

Excitement factor: 2/5

Placebo (Main Stage) - Haven't seen them before and have heard they are a great festival band, so am in high anticipation. Looking forward to hearing some older staples and songs from the new album.

Excitement factor: 3/5

Deftones (Main Stage) - A nostalgic one for me! Should be good, but would prefer them in a tent.

Excitement factor: 3/5

Funeral for a Friend (Main Stage) - Another nostalgic one. Hadn't listened to them for years but when they got announced I got hold of the albums I've missed out on. Still sound like a great band, and I'm really looking forward to them now.

Excitement factor: 3/5

Alexisonfire (Main Stage) - One of my favourite bands at the minute, haven't seen them before either. I'm considering seeing them later on in Lock-Up too.

Excitement factor: 4/5

Manchester Orchestra (NME/R1) - Another one of my favourite bands. Love the first album, need to listen to the new one more to let it sink in, but sounds very powerful. Looking forward to them.

Excitement factor: 4/5

There's alot I want to see, so I'm sure by the time I'm finished this will have taken up too much of my time. Also I doubt my 'Exitement Rating' will go below 3, otherwise I don't think I'd bother with the band.

This is all assuming that the bands I put won't clash too.

Friday

Placebo - I'm not the biggest fan in the world but they have alot of great sing-a-long's and I imagine them to be a great festival band. Excitement Rating 4/5

Deftones - Same as Placebo really, except without all the sing-a-longs, alot of people seemed to really want them to play and I like the songs that I've heard enough to warant a watch. Excitement Rating 3/5

Sonic Boom Six - Saw them in 2007 and they were great, seems like a great way to start the weekend. Excitement Rating 4/5

Florence & The Machine - I've only heard a few songs but the ones I have I've really liked. Excitement Rating 4/5

Manchester Orchestra - Went onto spotify today to check them out and was really impressed, can't wait for these now. Excitement Rating 4/5

Anti Flag - Not usually my sort of thing but I had a great time in the pit last year so I'm looking to repeat that fun. Excitement Rating 3/5

The Aggrolites - One of the many bands I didn't really know before but spotify showed me the way after they were announced. Excitement Rating 4/5

Streetlight Manifesto - Music doesn't blow me away but they sound like a lot of fun. Excitement Rating 3/5

Saturday

The Prodigy - Lots of great songs, everyone says they're awesome live. Excitement Rating 5/5

Maximo Park - Keep popping up at festival I'm at and I always enjoy myself, I won't be upset if they clash though. Excitement Rating 3/5

Eagles of Death Metal - Great band, they were good in 2007 too but I want to be closer this time. Excitement Rating 4/5

The Gossip - I know there's not alot of love for them here but I thought their show in 2007 was good and so was the album, would prefer a better band to end the day on but these will do. Excitement Rating 3/5

Patrick Wolf - I've seen him loads of times now but he never gets boring, listened to the new album on myspace today and it's awesome. Excitement Rating 5/5

Metric - Really happy they've been announced as I started getting into a couple of months ago, I've heard 2 albums and they've both been really good. Excitement Rating 4/5

Spinnerette - Can't remember the name of the band the singer was in but I never liked them, pleasent suprise to find this is much more my sort of thing. Excitement Rating 4/5

Dinosaur Pile Up - Sound to me like a grunge throwback sort of band, they do it well enough and I like grunge. Excitement Rating 3/5

Mad Caddies - Another spotify discovery and possibly my favourite of them, can't wait. Excitement Rating 5/5

Rival Schools - Looked them up on spotify, didn't think they were amazing but I'd enjoy myselfExcitement Rating 3/5

Municipal Waste - Probably the best suprise of 2007, looking forward to some more. Excitement Rating 4/5

Chuck Ragan - Another spotify find, really loved the album though. Excitement Rating 4/5

Sunday

Radiohead - One of my favourite bands ever. Excitement Rating 5/5

Bloc Party - I do really like Bloc Party and the new album is my favourite so far but I still wouldn't mind missing them because there's always next year. Excitement Rating 3/5

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Been a huge fan for ages but never seen them live. Excitement Rating 5/5

Frank Turner - A spotify look-up after he was announced, not bad at all. Excitement Rating 3/5

I still need to look up In Case of Fire, Metronomy and Broadway Calls so I suppose they could be added. Also if/when Faith No More get announced that'd be a 5/5.

As I'm only going for the Friday, I'll be trying to squeeze as many as possible in...

Ghost Of A Thousand - haven't seen them for about 3 years and they've got a lot more exposure since then. Should be a good start. Excitement factor: 2/5

Manchester Orchestra - couple of mates have already recommended these to me. Will be checking out their album before the festival. Excitement factor: 3/5

Airbourne Toxic Event - checked out their album a few weeks ago. Sounded ok. Will listen again before the festival. Excitement factor: 2/5

New Found Glory - always good fun for a sing-a-long and jump around. Excitement factor: 4/5

Funeral For A Friend - not bothered about them really but will check out from afar I expect. Excitement factor: 2/5

Deftones - not seen for a good few years. Hoping for lots of old stuff as I haven't really bothered with the last couple of albums. Excitement factor: 4/5

Fall Out Boy - will be well oiled by this time. Will most probably dance like an idiot. Excitement factor: 2/5

Kings of Leon - taking my girlfriend to Reading for the first time mostly to see KoL so will have to watch them over Faith No More (but I'll be seeing them at Download anyway). Will still be good. Excitement factor: 4/5

(obviously this does not include bands I'll be catching by chance as I wander around - hope to have a peek or two in the lock up at some point!)

Friday

Fall Out Boy - Purely for 15 year old nostalgia. Even though I hated them back then too. But still, memories! :D

Deftones

Placebo -One of my favourite bands pre-Meds, and the new album seems appalling from what I've heard so far, but meh, if they play Nancy Boy/Every You Every Me, I will be a happy girl :D

Kings of Leon or Billy Talent - I hate Kings, and I'm indifferent to Billy Talent, but the girl will drag me along depending on what mood she's in, and I'll try and convert myself and appreciate them. Hopefully by then I'll be drunk enough to appreciate them, heh.

Saturday

Delphic

Spinnerette

Metric

Patrick Wolf - Seen him earlier this year, excellent live, excellent outfits (heh) and his new song Vulture is probably one of my favourites of 09. And of course the back catalogue he plays alongside the new stuff. Unfortunately the venue I saw him at had the most ***** security I have ever come across so I couldn't enjoy the show fully. Hopefully Reading will be a second chance for me to have a good time!

Maximo Park

The Prodigy

No headliner that night, I can't stand the Arctics. Might view them from afar while collapsing from exhaustion.

Sunday

Frank Turner

Brand New

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Bloc Party - purely for position, I loved Silent Alarm but their new album makes me feel ill :D

and of course, the epic RADIOHEAD

Perfectly fine with that number. I'm not particularly fit, if I really wanted to see any more bands and go to the front and whatever, I would probably be too exhausted by Sunday. And I already found out the hard way last year what it's like when you're exhausted and your body gets angry at you

Probably still not going but if I was..

Friday

Deftones - Not a huge fan by any means and probably wouldn't go to their own gig but would like to catch them. Excitement Rating 2

The Horrors - New album is excellent despite its obvious influences Excitement Rating 4.5

Dananananakroyd - Excellent debut album, excellent live. Won't change your life but a hell of a good time seeing them Excitement Rating 3

Saturday

The Prodigy - Again not the hugest fan but know how good they are and their live show is supposed to be immense. Excitement Rating 3

The Maccabees Excellent Indie pop of the good variety. Not really into them these days but always had a great time in the past Excitement Rating 3

Dinosaur Pile-Up Not heard to much but seemed pretty decent. Would like to see them Excitement Rating 2

Sunday

Radiohead Brilliant Band, Brilliant live. Arguably the best headliner Reading has ever had Excitement Rating 4.5

Yeah Yeah Yeahs Somehow I have never got to seeing them, dunno how that happened!? Good band anyhow Excitement Rating 3.5

Thats about it for me. I usually spend a lot at the carling stage and at BBC introducing stage though. Having said that though, going through the line up like that really shows how at this stage there is not much I would see.

Radiohead - They're well overrated in my humble opinion but I'd still class myself as a big fan. Pretty excited about seeing them seen as I was ill last year when they played Manchester (and i had tickets)

'Excitement Factor' - 3/5

Brand New - They're one of those bands which i tend to either LOVE a song or HATE a song. Deja Entendu and The Devil and God have some great tracks on so I'm really looking forward to hearing the likes of Jesus Christ, The Quiet Things etc..

'Excitement Factor' - 3/5 (would be really excited but I already have tickets to see them at Manchester Academy

Deftones - A band that I have massive respect for, I'll be honest I'm not really a metal fan any more but I have loved these since Around The Fur and my Nu-Metal days. Never seen them despite the love so yeah these are my band of the weekend.

Excitement Factor - 4/5

The Horrors - I actually despise 'Strange House' but 'Primary Colours' shows a band that have matured great and for the sheer Kraut-Rock bliss of A Sea Within A Sea alone I will be watching them. But I've got tickets to see them in July and will be seeing them at ATP at the end of the year so not exactly too excited for them.

Excitement Factor - 2/5

There's nobody I am reaaaally excited about, like last year there was Jeffrey Lewis, Adam Green and RATM who would have all been 5/5 and the year before Smashing Pumpkins and Interpol were both 5/5 but these year is a bit lack luster. There are a couple of other bands that I will watch but I'm really hoping for Black Lips headlining the Carling Tent and also some Wavves, Abe Vigoda and the like...

Funeral For A Friend - Seen them a fair few times, good sing a long, good band! - 4/5

Kings of Leon - Missed them 3 times now, so excited to see them! - 5/5

EODM - If said clash occurs, fun band easy to listen to - 1/5

Enter Shikari - Followed them from the beginning, good live but not sure about them on the main stage - 3/5

Sunday

Brand New - One of my favourite bands, love all their stuff (including their brilliant first album) seeing them in June, just can not wait - 10/5

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Awesome in 2006, went out and bought the albums after, happy to watch again - 3/5

Bloc Party - Saw them earlier this year thought they were fantastic, have seen them at Reading the past two years and think they are brilliant! - 5/5

Radiohead - Will be epic! Been a fan for a few years, have wanted to see them for ages - 5/5

Looking forward to it, am still bitter about the Sunday night headliner clash, but you can't have everything!

Right let's try and work this out. I got a feeling already I might have to deal with a few clashes!

My Reading Festival so far:

FRIDAY:

Sonic Boom 6:

Nice way to start the day. Hopefully the sun is beaming and perfect to chillout to after a night of I dare say, some major drinking!

Excitement Rating:2/5

The Ghost Of A Thousand:

Over to the lock-up in which hope to see at least 3/4's of TGOAT's set. Have been enjoying their album recently and feel that their set should be energetic!

Excitement Rating:2/5

Small break for food/drink...

Alexisonfire (Main Stage):

Probably one of my top 5 bands at the moment. I got a feeling this set will showcase alot of the new album compared to the one in the Lock-Up later

Excitement Rating:3/5

New Found Glory:

Sounds like a fun band. Friend loves them so will check them out with him most likely. Might end up leaving early to go elsewhere/walk near end.

Excitement Rating:2/5

Little Boots:

Ok, first one of clashes. Have been really enjoying her music. Really good pop music and want to see her live after a recommendation from a friend at work. Plus a bit of eye-candy doesn't hurt. Again will potentally go elsewhere to see another band.

Excitement Rating: 3/5

Funeral For A Friend:

*Optional* - Completely depends on if there's a clash with Little Boots. Used to really love these guys but since 'Hours' have not released anything that interests me. But might have to see them to get a good position for the following act.

Excitement Rating:2/5

Deftones:

One of the bands which I'm looking forward to most at the entire weekend (Like a lot of people here). Got a feeling it will be really intense and high energy.

Excitement Rating:4/5

Recovery time.... (LOL)

Alexisonfire (Lock-Up):

After the main-stage performance, this will be a lot more intense and intimate. Guessing they should play some of their more older stuff in here too which would be awesome.

Excitement Rating:4/5

Placebo:

Will probably see the last 15mins of these guys if my estimates are right. Not really a 'fan' but I have friends who really like these guys and will most likely check them out.

Excitement Rating:2/5

Back to campsite... few drinks and then back to the arena.

Kings of Leon:

Not really a fan of the newer material but it is definately tolerable. Hoping to try and convert some friends to like them only if they play their older stuff. But if a certain Faith No More play the R1/NME Tent... I will be there!

Excitement Rating:3/5

Then back to site for DRINKS!

Saturday = next post... (sorry in advance for double post) lol
