For those of you curious, these are the previous lineups for the Reading Festival, all the way back to 1962. Thought it was interesting to see the progression of the Festival through the years. Liking the look of '94, some great acts. Cypress hil, Lemonheads, Pavement, Flaming lips, Ice cube, radiohead, soundgarden, therapy?, wildhearts, helmet, jesus lizard. From what i know, all of them would be available for next year ( i think they're all together, except pavement, who will be):D

'99, blink 182 third from top in the lock up, imagine that

Goof thread, man, some of those line ups were immense. I know looking back is always through rose tinted glasses but still!

1992 - Public Image Ltd, PJ Harvey, Ride, Manic Street Preachers, Smashing Pumpkins, Rollins Band, Nirvana, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Mudhoney, Pavement, Mevlins, Suede. That is pretty damn immense!

Also interesting to see how high The Fall use to play. Also the fact in 1995 Bjork and Neil Young headline, acts still repsected and credible today but would never headline the festival or play the festival now.

Also what is really interedsting is too see how Reading has in many ways always been a mainstrem festival. Despite the Alternative and Grunde Scene happening in the 80's in America its only into the 90's where these bands start to appear at the festival, when it was crossing over to the mainstrem.

It's 1988 that makes me laugh - Starship, Meatloaf and Bonnie Tyler

Apparently that was the year the latter two acts infamously got all sorts of s*** thrown at them. Not surprised!

It's 1995 that always gets me the most:

Neil Young (with Pearl Jam backing), Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Hole, Bjork, Pavement, Skunk Anansie.

What a weekend that would have been.

The Sunday in 1992 looks amazing too: Nirvana, Beastie Boys, Pavement and Screaming Trees.

1994 of course rocks hard too!

2002 Leeds (with Guns n Roses) was easily the best lineup of any festival I have been or ever will go to I think. Out of the ones that I have missed, 1995 looks awesome.

I can't believe Sisters of Mercy headlined in 1991, last time I saw them was 2000 when they were playing to about 50 people in a college bar
