well I'm back home. Really enjoyed it, on way there we spotted Conor McGregor getting into a cab outside the Crowne Plaza, and as we looked through the window we saw some fight team type people so we decided to go in for a pint, Melvin Guillard was in the bar, Mark Munoz was milling about and I got to meet Machida and have a photo with him, they all seemed like jolly nice blokes. Headed down to the arena and had missed the first prelim. The girls fight was actually the most engaging one of the evening tbh (as a live spectator) and as always, the hairs went up on the back of my neck when Brucey does his "iiiiits tiiiiime" thing.

On the whole, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, but the arena wasnt even close to being full, I know for a fact I could have taken 3 or 4 more people with me if the tickets werent so expensive, I know from a value perspective it isnt that expensive, but they arent gonna attract new or casual fans at that price level.

I'd love to go to a proper big name, packed fight card in the USA some day.

Of course they are. Looking forward to that TUF starting. Stopped watching Rousey/Tate after 3 episodes.

Was watching Pride Grand Prix 2000 earlier tonight as I recently purchased dvds off Clear Vision. Buy 2 get 1 free deal and the Pride ones I got all have 3 discs so bit of a bargain there considering how much they are on amazon.

A new UFC documentary called 'Fighting For A Generation - 20 Years In The Octagon' aired last night in the states.

Just downloaded it there so will be watching that tonight.

Really good documentary, just wish It was a bit longer. Loved the insight into the early days.

Randy Couture never gets mentioned but is shown in clips getting knocked out 3 times haha.

Really enjoyed the doc, I thought it was really well produced, and captured the journey that the sport has been on perfectly - from kinda sleazy, lawless, and a bit grubby, to the highly polished, highly professional, and indeed highly profitable machine it is today. and fuck me am I excited for tonights card. I will be watching every second of it in the morning, might even get up and watch it live. I'm going for mcdonald, sonnen and gsp. I'd like to see lawler win, cos I like him as a fighter, but think mcdonald has a better all round game, if he can avoid lawler dropping him with a big shot, he should be home free.

I saw the doc and it looked good. Well produced and focused heavily on the early era which is good.

For tonights fights I think Hendricks by Beard power, Sonnen by tweets, McDonald by GSP's help, Koscheck by decision and Elliot by TKO. (Well Hendricks by KO, Sonnen by decision and McDonald by decision)

Did anyone else see the Bellator 108 main event? I wont ruin it for anyone that wants to see it, just asking is anyone else bothered to watch

Dana was going mental at the post fight presser, called the Nevada state athletic commission idiots and said he was terrified of holding fights in Nevada in the future for fear of ruining the sport "like they ruined boxing". Obviously an emotive response but not entirely wide of the mark.

Gsp is fed up IMHO, he might love the sport but who would choose to get smashed in the head repeatedly if they had millions in the bank?

He quite specifically, and repeatedly said "I need to make a point" in my life, dunno exactly what that means?

I haven't seen the presser yet, I usually watch the presser and scrum on youtube as soon as I can after the fight but I havent seen it yet, ill look again now. But Dana is right that the athletic commission is shockingly bad lately. Jones-Gus was debatable but I cant see how this fight was as close as to give GSP the win

It's not a shocking decision in the context of scoring system. Damage isn't taken into account. I don't agree with it myself, but what can you do?

Hendricks cost himself the fight by not going for it and letting GSP win the final round.

Hendricks said he only hit GSP with 70% of his power...maybe he should have tried for 100% and he would have the gold properly. If GSP takes longer than 6 months out I could see Hendricks face Robbie Lawler just because Lawler wants the fight. But I hope GSP doesnt take 6 months out so we can see him get well and truly beaten

Oh I agree. Its just whats rumoured. But the fight has got so much publicity due to the decision. The sharks are out now and swimming.
