Bellator is great, I watch it every week, they have some good fighters on their cards. Yeah, Doug Marshall is a prize tit. His last fight against schlemenko was a particular favourite of mine. And the ring girls are very easy on the eye too, I do like Jade Bryce.

Coming off of TRT apparently plays havoc with you, so pulling out of the fight was probably the only option for Belfort. Machida's style will need to be altered, because Weidman will be happy for Machida to dance around the outside while he finds his range.

Also explains why Sonnen/Wandy was moved to Brazil.

Gonna watch old UFCs and cover them on here. Starting with UFC 66 because I was gonna do 70 to start and it was easier to get the collection.

Michael Bisping vs. Eric Schafer

This would be Bisping's debut on PPV. Bisping comes out to "London Calling". Can't believe he agreed to that actually. Bisping had more convincing nights in UFC after this, but given it was his first PPV, you can forgive some jitters from him. Schafer dominated much of the fight, but Bisping hit a few key blows and it was a big knee close to the end that really turned things in his favour. Might not have been his most convincing performance, but it was a win and that's all that matters.

Andrei Arlovski vs. Marcio Cruz

These are two guys who, when you seen their names on earlier UFC shows, you'd be pretty sure of enjoying yourself. Andrei with a cheap kick in the leg lock and plenty of shots to the back of the head before getting the KO. He really should not have been given the win here, and it played a part in the downfall of Cruz. Feel sorry for him in this one and it would appear that the incompetent nature of Herb Dean was apparent even here.

Chris Leben vs. Jason MacDonald

Couple of early finishes should ensure prelims, and this might early as well as Leben had power, and MacDonald had mad skills on the ground. And it turns out to be MacDonald that pulls it off with a lovely choke. He showed some terrific skill on the ground in this one, especially when he used the Kimura in the defensive spot to escape from Leben. Leben was a bit laboured with the striking early and that was not a good sign for him when it's the biggest weapon, but taking nothing away from Jason MacDonald. Fun fight.

Keith Jardine vs. Forrest Griffin

Can this fight be anything other than brilliant? I highly doubt it. Much to my surprise, Jardine actually wins the fight with a belting left hook and then the ground and pound. To start with, Griffin's counter striking was superb and any time Jardine came forward, Griffin put him in trouble, but the longer the fight went on, Jardine was finding his range and was putting a few warnings. He also changed things up as well after a stagnant first two minutes. Impressive showing from Jardine.

Thiago Alvez vs. Tony DeSouza

I guess it's time for a prelim fight! Stunning performance from Alvez in this one. He just unloaded on Souza and he was unlucky not to finish the fight in the first round but McCarthy made the right decision not to end it as DeSouza showed heart and kept himself in the fight and a good eye was kept on it. When the second round came, he was ultra confident and stalked the cage like he knew he was going to win the fight, throwing Souza around like he was nothing. Great showing.

Chuck Liddell © vs. Tito Ortiz - UFC Light Heavyweight Championship

This was a PROPER UFC fued. These two guys just plain didn't like each other at all. Ortiz didn't look on the level of Liddell in their first fight. He made a much better fist of it in this one. He was willing to stand again, but this time he was smart enough to know he couldn't just brawl with him, and got off some good shots as a result, and also had Liddell in some real trouble near the end of the second round. Ultimately however, if you stand with Liddell, you're likely to take the shot that ends the fight, and Ortiz just didn't get the job done in time. Liddell chopped and changed and Ortiz found it difficult to adapt. It was an intriguing fight, and Ortiz gave it a real good go, but it wasn't enough in the end.

Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Carmelo Marrero

So a wee prelim fight to close the show for me. Gonzaga is a fun fighter. Not a great fighter by any stretch, but always exciting to watch. Gonzaga here was absolutely amazing. It was like a video on how to take someone down and control them every which way. He had the back, nearly tapped him in a full mount and eventually took the arm and won. Carmelo offered absolutely nothing, but only because Gonzaga never allowed him to offer anything.

UFC 66 is a show worth watching. You get Ortiz/Liddell II which is significant in itself, but there's no crap, and there's some brilliant performances, as well as Bisping's first fight on PPV.

I got an invite to the open training session on wednesday, with a Q&A with Forrest Griffin, Dan Hardy and all of the fighters on the card. I am a little tempted, but at an 8 hour round trip on a school night, dunno if its a great idea?

Right, a Fight Night now, with Rashad Evans in the main event. I'll include the fights on the show below. If ye feel like reading my recap, I'll shove it in the spoilers.

Spencer Fisher vs. Hermes Franca - Lightweight Bout
Heath Herring vs. Jake O'Brien - Heavyweight Bout
Ed Herman vs. Chris Price - Middleweight Bout
Rashad Evans vs. Sean Salmon - Light Heavyweight Bout

Spencer Fisher vs. Hermes Franca - Lightweight Bout

This has to be good surely. Franca is sporting some horrific purple hair for this fight. No need for that at all. Spencer Fisher was the better technical striker in this fight, but he clearly gave Franca too much to aim at, and with the power that Franca has, you can't really do that. The referee seen more than enough in the second round when Franca landed a huge right hand. It was beginning to look like Franca was too tired to take advantage, but he wound up unloading after being apprehensive. Fisher looked good here but Franca did just enough.

Heath Herring vs. Jake O'Brien - Heavyweight Bout

This is Herring's UFC debut. Herring got some amount of build up going into this one, and you'd be forgiven for thinking that O'Brien was being fed to Herring. So when Herring turned in an absolutely horrific show, it came as a shock. O'Brien deserves a bit of credit for his own performance though as he did exactly what he had to do. Take Herring down and dominate. And this is what he did. Herring was getting frustrated and tried to show some urgency in the third, but this led to him going down again. Not the most exciting fight in the world, but good to see an underdog in such a dominant display.

Ed Herman vs. Chris Price - Middleweight Bout

Price comes into the fight at 192. That's a hell of a weight to go over. Herman wins with a lovely Armbar finish and even Price congratulates him on that one. That was beautifully down. He is on the back but doesn't quite have the hooks in so THROWS himself into the Armbar right away and Price has no choice but to tap. It was impressive overall from Herman as he kept himself out of danger through the whole thing. You can see why they showed this prelim.

Rashad Evans vs. Sean Salmon - Light Heavyweight Bout

Another case of looking like feeding someone to your potential star, and no doubt that Evans was watching Herring earlier and decided that he was not going to suffer the same sort of fate. Again, the underdog looked like they were ready to cause the upset, but Evans showed a lot more skill even when he wasn't looking at his best. Salmon looked good getting the takedowns and landed big shots, but Evans found his way to his feet quickly and answered with shots of his own. So he always looked like he could win the fight, and sure enough, Salmon ate a BRUTAL head kick and Evans won the fight. I'd urge you to seek out that head kick. Absolutely vicious.

I think where this show has it's best points is in it's last two fights where we see two terrific finishes. One stunner of a submission and an even better KO. Overall, the show isn't great though.

Will be covering the Fight Night from last night later. With NO spoiler tags. It's been on. ;)

Re- the spoiler.

I had been searching "the usual places" for the fight - with no success at that point, and came in here to see if anyone was talking about Bellator (which was a good card actually) and was greeted with the gif of the main event I had yet to even be able to download. Not cool.

The thread isnt necessairly spoiler free, but a little thought would have been nice!

just saying, and not gonna get arsey about it. :)
