Recommend me some bands to see at Reading?

Hiya, well I am a big music fan, but in recent years I havent really followed new acts. I like all music so have some bands to see at Reading this year. Like 11 in total and usually I see 20+ bands each year. So I was wondering if anyone can recommend a few bands, preferably on the lower stage that I could see. Any recommendations will be great, but if you could keep away from suggesting well known bands like Alexisonfire and Lostprophets I would be very grateful. This is your chance to help me out by recommending a band you love and want to see. Plus I thought it could help other people just looking for bands to see to kill some time.

Well it would help if we knew the bands you were planning on seeing so we don't reccomend them.

My one reccomendation at the moment would be The Horrors. Thier new album is pretty great and has found fans in people like Trent Reznor, Henry Rollins and has helped secure them a place at Decembers ATP festival featuring My Bloody Valentine and Sonic Youth. There are loads of reviews of it online so won't go into detail but it has influence in post-punk. shoegaze and krautrock. If you hae negative opinion of them before which many do you really should give the new album a chance.

All the bands I am seeing are on the main stage. Plus I know every band on the main stage so you dont need to recommend main stage bands. So just Lockup, NME etc.

Hmm, I dont like the Horrors. I listened to an album last year didnt think it was great. Might check out their new album. Maybe they have done an 'Automatics' approach, first album I didnt like. Second album really good.

White Lies are a bit like an updated Joy Division for the current music scene, but it's good. Should be an enjoyable, fun performance.

The Gaslight Anthem are brilliant, especially with the latest album. They've been getting a lot of well deserved hype and good press, so definitely worth checking out.

Frank Turner is an acoustic performer. Very good songs, should be a good early slot.

Little Boots is the pseudonym for solo artist Victoria Hesketh. She plays interesting pop music, which retains catchy melodies while still bringing something new to the table. Also uses synthesizers and a recently developed Japanese electronic instrument.

The Airborne Toxic Event are an "indie" (I use that term loosely) band, but aren't your the run of the mill NME worshipped kind. Quite atmospheric in places, singer has a very good voice.

Manchester Orchestra are another "indie rock" band, but quite rough around the edges. Very well crafted songs and brilliant lyrics and vocal melodies. Will probably be one of my weekend highlights.

People are really overestimating how much their new album is different to the first - a lot of the songs sound very simular to the first album, there are really only 4 tracks that sound THAT different, only the production and lyrics have gotten a lot better ovrall. The first album was actualy really good bar way too much filler.

I would definatley recomend anyone who didn't like the first giving them another go though.
