glasto_freak
I haven't really done any big festivals, just a whole load of smaller ones. But it would be nice to get out of the main stages and go to something a bit smaller, more intimate. Are there many small tents (1000 person capacity type thing) around glasto that get really busy? And where are they? Because i find if you get a great small band in there you can have the best atmosphere
scaryclaireyfairy
see 'what stages should i spend my time at' section here http://www.glastoearth.com/the-faq/faq-part-
LusciousLucy
Whoa that was confusing...cos there's already a Glastofreak on here, wondered why such a question was being asked!?! An answer to your question is probably head to the Green Fields/Avalon/Cabaret and so on. The Dance Village has a lot of smaller tents. It's Glastonbury. Tents, big and small...all will be packed most of the time.
HurrahBrother
This lot often put in an appearence. Certainly fills the criteria of an intimate and packed venue! Is the Pussey Palure showing up this year? Cheesy dance pop but fun. I found a very good bar/music venue over in the Greenfeilds last year, never could find it again. The Avalon Stage is far from huge. Trash City/Shangri-la would have a couple of suitable venues (going on prior years). There are usually 2 or 3 smaller ones in the Dance village that are worth a visit. Edited May 28, 2009 by HurrahBrother

Stuzo
I'm not sure what my interpretation of what 1000 people look like, but smaller tents that I've found fantastic stuff in are: - Avalon Stage - A small ish tent, I reckon about 2500 maximum but always has an absolutely fantastic atmosphere - Avalon Cafe - never actually been in there but it is in the same area as the main Avalon stage and I would guess that it only holds a few hundred people Club Dada - In Shangri La, I think about 800-1000 people could get in there. Always has a packed linup with the occasional gems (the tent was fit to burst for Hayseed Dixie last year which was a fantastic show) The Pussy Parlour - this is a really cool Belgian Spiegeltent with mirrors all the way round, a raised relaxed area round the edge and a pit/dance floor in the centre. Has a really varied lineup and for the right act is fantastic. Capacity I think is probably about the 800 mark There are loads of other small and even tiny stages around but the above sound like your kind of thing. One of the best parts of the festival is looking for shelter (from the blistering sunshine!) in a small venue and stumbling across something fantastic in the process.
