paulo999
If the train(s) have a goods van/area then it's doable. I've seen people take trolleys on the festi specials from Paddington, for example.
Redcanadahat
thanks for this! very helpful! i'm actually travelling down on the monday morning as i'm working the festival but you've made a very good point about finding out if someone is driving so they can take my crate of cider :-) i have a couple friends from london town that could...but we don't chat all year round (only around glasto time) so i'd feel a bit awkward coming out of the blue and saying 'oh hey..can you take some booze down for me!'. waahh. i'll give it a shot though. last year i took my backpack and one of those old lady trollys on the train (just a small one) and it was no worries. if i can get someone to take the cider down then i'm sorted really. thanks

Laura_Babs
If you are going down on the Monday then go for it (if you think you can lift it on to the train). The trains shouldn't be so busy on the Monday, particularly if you can go out of rush hour. Although an easier option would certainly be to get a friend to take it down if you can. coolethan
The train is a nightmare on the weds/thurs/fri but before that you won't have a problem at all. Last year a very lovely man saw us laden with bags and trolleys and opened up the freight part of the train - we sat in a cage watching the world go bye and arrived at Castle Cary already feeling the magic. (then we queued for about three days to get out of the train station...)
Al the CAT
From Paddington there's extra trains laid on, direct to CC. Not on the timetable, get slotted in amongst the regular traffic, and are consequently slower (but are brilliant... the happiest train you've ever been on ). gnrchick8
I did exactly this last year. Im a wristbander for FR too (hi fellow wristbander ) and I went down by train on the Monday. I used a box trolley from B&Q to carry crates of beer down. Like this one http://nextday.diy.com/app/jsp/product/pro...productId=38945 As your going down on the Monday the trains wont be too bad. Trust me you wil be fine
