eFestivals
Vampire Weekend was defo only ever marked as a "strong rumour" here; with them not announced in the line-ups, they were removed. I'm also pretty sure that Placebo were only marked the same. While there was a BBC article which said they were playing, that was the word of the writer of that article and not the band themselves - things like that I tend not to trust as time has shown the journo is very often making an assumption. shiveringsky
I don't know if this means anything, but on the Orange Glasty page they have a festival survival guide with Prodigy, Dizzee and Placebo. Can't see why Placebo would be included in such an interview with two bands who are actually playing if they weren't. It's possible, but a bit odd if so. glasto_mongrel_2008
They were two of the bands I was most looking forward to. Vampire Weekend were superb last year. Wasn't Emily Eavis hinting that they were gonna play or did we all just read into it too much? Saw Placebo at Leeds festival a few years back and I'd love to see them again. Laura_Babs
It always seemed a bit strange about Placebo as they are in Turkey and Greece either side of Glastonbury I think. Of course with the wonders of air travel it is possible, just thought it seemed unlikely.
