Heart Of Gold, Southern Man, Like A Hurricane.

Edit: if you generally like folky singer/songwriters I can't think of anyone better to see (except maybe Richard Thompson)

Powderfinger.

Cortez the Killer.

Like a Hurricane.

Those would be a good start, all the other suggestions so far are top notch as well. (although these 3 are from his rockier side)

Seriously, and I know you wont believe this - I would'nt either - but its true.

Twice today, I have tried to reply to this thread but have just given up as I can't explain in words just how important Neil Young is to music.

I am into LOADS of bands, but the variety Neil puts out covers the widest range of moods and emotions from the lonesome ballads (Birds) to the rocking energised overdriven guitar music (Act Of Love) to the pure singalong songs such as (Heart Of Gold). Add on top of that the fact that Neil is basicly 2 artists in one - an unplugged and acoustic genius to a lost-in-music man grinding the plecs along the electric guitar as if his soul depended on it.

There are Neil Young songs that whenever I hear them just stop me in my tracks and make me think about things. There are Neil Young songs that whenever I hear them I want to just turn it up to 11 and rock my body 'til I get whiplash.

Thats why you should see him! ;-)

Everything that he said ^^^^^^^^

Every year I've been to Glasto I've been praying that Shakey would play.

He was one of THE figures of the sixties folk scene.

He was at Woodstock hanging with Hendrix.

He is the only artist that Dylan said he was scared of sharing a stage with.

He can play acoustic folk that reaches into your soul or blistering rock like the end of the world

He was trying to call Kurt Cobain during the last days, and 'Its better to burn out than to fade away' is one of his lines

He is one of the most important musicians of the last 40 years and Glasto was made for him.

Im a little bit of a fan!

Listen to Hey Hey My My, Cortez the Killer, Needle and the Damage Done, After the Goldrush...just Spotify and enjoy!

I'll go along simply because of what my friend said. He's a die hard punk, goes to nothing bar The Bouncing Souls, Gallows, Rise Against, The Bronx, Ramones, Pistols, etc. He seen Niel young once, at a festival. It was the best performance he's ever seen.
