If you type a band name, why not...

As the singular greatest event of our lifetime draws closer, there seems to be more and more people on here asking if people are going to see certain bands.

For example, a post about Yeah Yeah Yeah, one about King Blues and one about David Guetta.

Lemme suggest that if you are a fan of the artist/band you are posting about and regardless of whether your thread is to say "made up they are playing","what time are they on" or "who else likes them" - why not include a brief opinion of the band too and why you like them.

As someone who is always seeking out new bands to watch and considering we only have 3 weeks, I do think posts about certain bands should be utilitised to not only comment, but to say what they sound like and why you like them.

Not a dig at any posters, but the David Guetta thread says...

"Anyone know if he's playing live or doing a DJ set?

If he plays live is he likely to have Chris Willis with him"?

Well, I would have much prefered to see 1 extra sentance to say what type of music it is and why you like them.

If I was asking a simple question about Neil Young (for example) I might tag on the end...

'Legend who plays folk & rock who will stun you with his acoustic renditions and rock you with his heavy rock guitar".

Hope I managed to explain that ok, mind you, I suppose I could have put it across better in just a few sentances but why say a little when you can say ALOT. <_<

(PS) Cant you tell I am getting over-excited now!!!!!! ;):P

Well I would recomend seeing Cold War Kids because they were absolutely fab live in '07. Although I would say the first album is better than second so if anyone wants to check them out then that's the one I would go for. I'm hoping I'm gonna make it to see them again but think they are right before Blur meaning that I may have to miss them. <_<

What I'm going to see......(sorry if my musical knowledge is not great)......

Amadou and Mariam - A Senegalise mix of african rhythms and drums, sweet vocals by man and woman

Alberta Cross - Just a great south american blues/rock group - check them out

Easy Star All Stars - great reggae/dub covers act playing their three albums in their entirity over three days. Do not miss; Dub Side of the Moon!!!

The Specials - cos they're The Specials

Madness - Same as above.....ska dancing time!

Florence and the machine - bluesy/soulful diva over rocky/indie tracks. Moody

Steel Pulse - An old reggae group. Great for sunny weather....shit, cursed it!

Baaba Maal - African roots and rhthym with Jazz and soulful vocals

Ray Davies - To hear The Kinks classics

Roger McGuinn - To hear The Byrds classics

Dan Le sac Vs Scroobius Pip - Hip hop, clever vocals with humour

Iration Steppas - Leeds based dub sound system - brilliant!

Dreadzone - Dub/Reggae/D&B

2 Many DJ's - Mashing up all types of tracks with techno. When they're on it, they're amazing. When they're not they can be shit. Worth the gamble.

Tinariwin - Arab rock group.

Playing for Change - Know nothing but a covers band with supporting vocals and guests who are bound to be brilliant on Jazz World.

Eagles of death metal - Think Spinal Tap crossed with The Darkness.....ish

Wow, that's a lot. And wanna see many more, but I think I just planned a special weekend. Thanks man that was fun, great idea and thread. Maybe see you there, I'll be the one dancing!!
