Has Radio1 given up on Glastonbury?

I was listening to radio one when an advertisment came on about all the festivals they are covering this year, as I anticipated hearing the word 'glastonbury' I was confused when it never came. They mentioned T in the park, Download, Ibiza but not beloved glasto! im sure they used to cover it in previous year.. have they just given up?

I am sure I read Neil say something about 6music being the main BBC Radio station covering Glastonbury this year.

Which would be brilliant - they do a great job at Summer Sundae every year.

this explains why the lineup is SO much better this year.

i am convinced that in the last few years the pyramid lineup was heavily biased towards terrible radio one artists.

this year clearly looks like they've been released from the radio one shackles

i hadn't heard a mention of glasto on those adverts either, but sure i heard one of the djs earlier huw stephens me thinks saying radio 1 would be at glasto, probably just not covering it as heavily this year, as you could say the lineup isn't as radio 1 friendly

i hope are leaving it, fed up with all those tosh R1 dj's like whiley, cox, bowman, zane etc turning up every year like its cool. i cant stand moyles either

What frequency is 6music and can you get it on a normal car radio (e.g. not a tv/internet only station?!). I did enjoy the journey home in 2007, accompanied by Radio 1 who played bits from the festival the whole day.

I thought that the Glasto baton had been passed to 6music. But i noticed on the back of the tickets they have radio 1 as a sponser. So maybe they will have coverage

You can get it through a digital set top box as well. It really is the best radio station by far in my opinion, with Adam and Joe, Craig Charles' funk show, and some superb documentaries and gig recordings. I reckon if the godlike John Peel was still alive this is where he'd be broadvcasting now.
