Toilets

I think its irresponsible selling this - I doubt anyone will poo in a bag then walk across site to the longdrops and spend time in a queue just to throw it down, they'll end up just throwing it in a bin.

I think it has legitimate uses. Non-festival camping, kids caught short on long journeys, etc.

Pitching it at festival goers though, I would say is irresponsible, for the exact reasons you gave.

(Come to think of it, how do you dispose of it in the outside world when there's no long-drops? Presumably the whole bag won't flush down a toilet. Hmm.)

You thought wrong, and if you're trying to be 'hilarious' with that post, it so didn't work. I doubt you'll get much support for a cardboard potty on this board...

And £16?! That's... five pints of cider! Or heaven knows how many pints of clean, disease-free water for a family in Africa. On a cardboard box... money to burn, obviously...

I'm sure you did think it was a good idea. Now wouldn't you prefer it if people explained to you why it's not?

Squatting in your tent dumping a pile of turds into a bag inches from your arse is 10 times more unpleasant than sitting on a long drop. So why bother?

Plus, are you going to trek across the site to use this in your tent, when you could use a long drop nearby?

Plus, it costs £16. Obviously the credit crunch hasn't hit podge52ville.

I love all the poo euphemisms in that advert. Bungles fingers! :P

I wouldn't use em at a festival as I really don't find the toilets that bad plus I couldn't, ahem, relax through fear it'd cave in and the unimaginable horrors that would follow. But they could be a good idea for people with kid, definately.

All in all it's not a very good idea for use at festivals (particularly Glastonbury where there is such a vast choice of places to empty your bowels) but if disposed of correctly the biodegradable bag should mean that it is reasonably environmentaly friendly. It is however, seriously unhygienic to be shitting in the same place you eat and sleep - even in the least developed societies on the planet people don't do this if they have a choice.

If you are that bothered about where you sit to shit then go up to the flushing toilets by the farm house, there are loads of them and I've never seen a queue when I've been there plus they are clean and free from the sights and smells left by those that have gone before you.

Look I think the whole idea stinks.... *snigger*

Also I had little jack poo as my avatar a while ago so I am slightly bias.......

However

Any product sold on the open market with a willy flap gets my thumbs up....

not up the willy flap but you know what I mean.

However going onto the technicalities, pooing in you dwelling is not something I would advocate. Better of spending the 16 quid on loads of wet wipes, some air freshener (even better some joss sticks) hand sanatizer and if the needs must some disposiable toilet seat covers.... £9.39 all in.... Sorted.

However none of that come with a willy flap!

A question that has probably been asked before...

Has there been anyone that fell into the longdrops in the history of their use?

VERY Unlikely I know, but I couldn't help but think of that when I first used them, what it would be like if someone did fall in and how they would be "rescued"!

I think they're the most convenient convenience available at the fest, the only disconcerting thing I found is that I couldn't hear the plop!!! :O

The toilets last year where brilliant I have been going since 1990 and they were the cleanest I have ever seen them. Michael Eavis should be proud of his toliet cleaning squad they do a great job considering.
