Well the bidding is up to £3100, some nice spoiling bids in there.

The top bidder is a chap called "AnotherVigilante" and he has been spoiling a lot of the auctions for Car Park tickets and Campervan tickets as well. Show your face who are you, you must be an efestival member.

Problem is the bids can be cancelled or the auctions restarted as private auctions, so you will never really win in the end whoever you are !!

I'll answer Russ's point individually to show just how many levels he's wrong on.

Wrong, procuring them with the intention of profiting from them makes you a tout.

Wrong.

Who exactly is this guy "preying on"? He's just trying to sell a ticket he doesn't want for market value.

Wrong. It's very easily justified because someone out ther is going to buy those tickets for a price that they think is fair.

Presumably Russ you think that everybody who works in retail is a complete arsehole. That guy who sold you your sandwich for lunch this morning bought it from a wholesaler WITH THE SPECIFIC INTENTION OF SELLING IT TO YOU FOR MORE THAN HE PAID FOR IT!!!!!!!!

What a prick!

Touts are scum

All ticket companies should have a membership log. All tickets should be sold with photos on them.

How can a gig sell out in 45 seconds!

Presale to scum!

Half of which work for See/Ticketmaster and other similar tout pandarig organisations. They dont care as long as them sell them.

perhaps a government petition should be arranged!

This ticket tout debate will go on an on and on and on. I don't see why ebay can't just stop allowing selliing tickets full stop and set up some kind of ticket exchange where they can only be bought and sold for face value. Just cos some people are willing to pay over the odds it doesn't means it's right to do so.

so long as there are people like bombfrog around who dont have the moral awareness to understand why ticket touting is bad it will continue.

selfish bastards will always exist sadly, thankfully they are in the minority at events such as Glastonbury, but they ARE there, as this bombfrog character demonstrates.

Very sad to see.

I can see where you're coming from, and am very glad Glastonbury has stopped touting, but the winners of these tickets have just been fortunate, and have not gone in on T-day intending to tout. Bombfrog is right when he says that business works on buying something, and then selling it for more.

If you were fortunate enough to be in possesion of a rare record, or classic car, and came to sell it would you sell it at the price you bought it for, or what the market would sustain. Similarly with a property, you get what you can for it.

I hate touting, but I don't think these two really are.

Your willingness to throw insults around does you no credit either. I await the expletive.......

The only difference is Tesco screw you without you even realising it

The fact is that Tesco sell beans at a price which is (mainly) governed by the price that people are prepared to pay for beans. If they price them too low then they wouldn't be able to make any money selling them so they'd have to increase the price. If they price them too high then nobody would buy them so they would have to reduce the price.

Gig tickets (unlike beans) are a luxury item and are subject to the same laws of supply and demand as any other product. The main difference is that they are normally sold for less that the price that the market is willing to pay. Which is why touts are able to make a living.

I'd imagine that the organisers were kinda hoping that the winner might use the ticket themselves, rather than sell it - I see that efestivals has a competition for a Glasto ticket, and would be interested to hear his opinion?

I thinik it is wrong. I don't think it's touting per se, but it is wrong.

Some valid points in certain respects, but it still does not account for the fact that mass touting for an event will result in that event being exclusive and elitist..........and basically in my opinion.....have too many rich knob ends farting about the place in their "cool" ways............best to be able to have a good mix of people at these events...........

I'm more than a bit surprised that Orange (an official sponsor) would apparently condone the reselling of tix given the organisers/promoters very strong views on doing so. Even the resale of Villager's tix was severely frowned upon and subsequently prevented.
