lovelessrapture
Looking through the line-up it just occurred to me how comedy act heavy the pyramid stage is on Sunday (Status Quo, Tony Christie, Tom Jones, Madness). Is it normally heavily tipped like that on the last day or is that just a really odd ocurrance?
OneLittleFish
To be fair, Tony Christies last album was actually very good. Madness aren't a comedy act either, top band.
budvar
They tend to stick a couple of older acts on the Sunday. I think this was because they used to give a load of free day tickets to locals. That said I wouldn't call them comedy though. I saw Madness at Glasto two years ago and I think they'll go down brilliantly on the pyramid. Tom Jones is a legend. Status Quo have played Wembley. And I'm guessing that Tony Christie's been in the music game for a lot longer than you've been alive. Worth pointing out that Blur and Nick Cave aren't exactly comedy. And that there are another 7 odd stages to chose from if you don't fancy the pyramid. It must be love...

Runner
My Dad loves Quo. He's seen them too many times to mention, and has told me that he's going to head down to Bristol so he can hear them  Apparently they are very loud!!! Wasn't Tony Christie's new stuff produced (written?) by Richard Hawley? Heard a couple of tracks and they were pretty good.
Mr Ploppy
I think you should go up to nick cave and tell him he is a comedy act. I'd love to see his reaction to that...

Lordscopie
I don't think you understand the term 'comedy'. All those acts have had a minimum 30 year career (something that most of the acts playing this year won't achieve). All of them have had number 1 hits. A 'comedy' line up would include: Mike Flowers Pops Barron Knights Bernard Cribbins Frank Sidebottom The Black Abbotts. I know someone's going to post that they'd like to see that line up.
lovelessrapture
Well I didn't mention Blur or Nick Cave as being comedy acts in my original post and I wasn't saying any of the acts would go down badly. If anything it's probably quite the opposite. It just seems that 50% of the stuff on that stage on Sunday is novelty based which struck me as unusual. And I was on the train coming back from ATP with Nick Cave on it oddly enough. The insane bastard took the train from Minehead back into London after the festival. No one soul bothered him from what i saw, but he is a scary looking old sod.

Filthy
Frank is class. Saw him years ago at a gig and he was handing around photos of him with famous people. His 'Frank and Paul McCartney' photo was just a photo of Paul & Linda but with Franks head cellotaped over Lindas. (etc etc). He's a comedy genius. You know he is, he really is. Mr Ploppy
My band were asked to go on Channel M (the ongoing yet unnecessary Manchester TV channel) and while we were in the studio, we found Frank's head and every inch of my spirit wanted to put it on moments before filming began. Sadly, I'm sensible and thought Frank might not appreciate it.
Pilgrim S
Until Nick Cave comes on, I am finding it hard to take the Pyramid Line-up on the Sunday seriously. They usually have someone on like Neil Diamond, or Shakey at some point in the festival, but this years Sunday seems to have gone over board with the old time "this will be a bit of a giggle" type sets. Sadly last year Shakey fell a bit flat, about the moment he announced he'd play a new song. Looking at recent Status Quo footage on Youtube does not exactly fill me with hope that they will be much better, but at least they won't take themselves seriously. I'm sure Tom Jones and Madness will be brilliant, but I wish they had spread these sets apart a little. Even the Easy Star Allstars will probably be a dub version Dark Side of the Moon, or Ok Computer. It doesn't help the Bjorn Again and Rolf Harris are on the bill as well. It's a little bit novelty. It kind of makes it look like the festival isn't really all that serious anymore. I'm not against it, but I think they've gone a bit overboard this year. Before you say it, I probably will go and watch something else.

LusciousLucy
OP...you obviously are not aware of the years and years and years of Sunday line ups at the Big G. Forever and always will have rock gods, easy listening gods, cover bands, childhood heroes, ya mum's favourite crooners and so on. It's not comedy...ever heard of the phrase 'tongue in cheek'? Glasto Sundays are about spending the final day at the best fest in the world singing along to tunes you have known since birth, a wave of love flowing over the field and an awful lot of drinking and dancing in the sun. Hell...there is an army of people STILL waiting for Queen Dolly of Parton to damn well get signed up. Tom Jones...been absent since 92 and that has been a very long wait for a lot of us for this return and as for the Quo...get in! One chord mania at lunchtime. Gonna be fookin awesome! So you not coming to the Knicker Meet then?
Yokel Again
Not one to complain about line-up - but sunday on the Pyramid isn't the best. . . still, luckily the Other Stage is tops for bands who've released ace albums last year and this, so will be there all day until Blur! HAPPY DAZE!

emmett milbarge
I think if you look at the album sales of the pryamid stage vs the other stage, pryamid will win hands down, and i can prob guess the guy asking the question is still in his/her teens
sifi
So the answer to my original question is yes?
lovelessrapture
I don't think so - no. Your definition of "comedy" isn't really right. Maybe some of those bands are a little more light-hearted at times, that's all. It's not all about serious guitar noodling or scowling DJs all the time!
