to erect or not to erect, that is the question

No this post is not about male genetalia sorry to have swindled you. :D

Im sitting here, resisting the urge to have a trail run of my new tent. Craig thinks that i should leave it in its bag because we probably wont get it back in properly. However, i think that it is silly not to test out to see if it works........What if theres bits missing?! I dont wanna wait until im in park home ground with a wobbly lobsided tent to find that out.

So this is the question, shall i risk craig telling me off for being impatient and put it up in the garden before he comes home from work? :D Or shall i wait until im in glastonbury and risk parts being missing? :D

Maybe im just impatient and excited. What u reckon?

I would def get it up before Glastonbury  !

It makes sense to check things out , make sure you have everything and work out beforehand

how to erect it.

I would also say , if it has come with the usual cheap pegs , ditch them and replace with sturdy ones !

Definitely put it up before.

What if, God forbid, you arrive and it's raining? You don't want to be messing around trying to figure out what goes where. Also, like you said, there may be bits missing.

But then they are a f**ker to get back in the bag.

Test it mate

I went to the Wickerman festival a few years back & someone i was with opened a brand new tent to find he was missing one of the pole bendy thingy's......basically he was buggered.

Check it out mate

Strongly advise you to test before Glastonbury. I just tested my new Vango and found holes in the bedroom groundsheet.

Long story short, I've decided to fix them, rather than return. But if it was a wet-one, water would've come in through them.

I would definately recommend that you practice putting up your new tent now/asap.

As others have said this has advantages of :

1. Checking if any part is missing or broken.

2. Getting familiar with how the tent is erected so you have some idea when you arrive on site (in maybe poor weather !)

3. The fun of putting up the tent with your partner (anticipating Glasto in a couple of weeks time)

4. The sense of satifaction that your new tent has been erected successfully and you will have a personal space at Glastonbury.

Take this opportunity while the weather is kind and post a photo on this forum - you will feel a sense of achievement. Don't wait until Glasto to find out if there are any serious issues with your new tent as it will spoil your festival experience.

Be brave and go for it but maybe wait until both of you are present before you dive in.

Reading the instructions first is always a good idea too

Good Luck

Dave
