Blackbud - playing intimate gigs in Green Fields

One of our favourite bands Blackbud, who have a new album out are set to play a brace of 'intimate' shows at the small Fluffy Rock Café stage on the Green Fields. Originally the band weren't going to

play as the decision on the album release and tour schedule were confirmed far too late to apply properly to the festival so everyone was going as a punter.

There have been quite a few fan requests for a Blackbud get together so the band decided to play as they first started at the festival ie small 'real festival'

Apparently some good quality acts are playing Fluffy Rock including the Black Swan Effect (on tour supporting Peter Gabriel) on Saturday night

Blackbud will play:

Thursday 9 to 9.45pm

Friday 2 to 2.45 pm

see you there.

I think it was in 2005 they were due on first on the Other Stage but because of the weather everything was a bit delayed...then a small little group of people gathered just to the left of the Other Stage...the 3 guys from blackbud starting playing a little impromptu set down there to what must have been about 20 people max...pretty cool :)

They worth a watch? Never heard em myself but apparently tickets are selling well for them so might purchase one

the first year they played (was it 2004?) they did a mindblowing set in the Avalon tent (with the crowd breaking out into spontaneous applause mid-song - it really WAS stunning!) and an early set to a full tent (cos it was raining) in the JP Tent on another day ...

The set in the JP Stage wasn't as good - I think nerves had got to them, it was by far the biggest crowd they'd ever played to - and the crowd were slow in warming to them (I thought it was gonna bomb at the start). But when they finished the place went completely nuts, and there were people still queuing to try to buy their CD about half an hour later with the next band well into their set. I'd be surprised if there's many pretty-much-unknown (as they then) bands that have gone down quite so well in that tent.

They've taken a year or two off (and have been doing other projects), but their second album is about to be released, so they're back - tho only playing these minor shows at Glasto this year. If you like bluesy rock with a jeff buckley type of vocals, you should love it. :)

RESULT! :) and 2 performances! Saw the boys a few years back (2005 i think!?) at the Borderline and put on a great performance. Have'nt checked out the new album as yet but i've been reading good things about it. Joes vocals are stunning live....highly recommend them to anybody who does'nt know them!

I was there with my 7 year old daughter in tow - thought they were great as ever - shame it couldn't be longer but it was a treat to see them in such a a small environment - I had a quick chat with Joe at the end and my daughter now thinks I'm friends with a rock star !! :(
