Oasis setlist - Heaton Park last night

Was at heaton park last night and really enjoyed it but it was the worst out of the 6 times i've seen them. Makes me laugh that people are actually surprised at the number of neanderthols that oasis attract...what do you expect! Best one I saw was a 50ish year old bloke obviously going for the Ian Brown look but just looked like an absolute f**king smack rat..swaggering about like he was hard as nails (i doubt he actually was)! Half of the people who go to see Oasis only know DLBIA and Wonderwall and merely go because the lads were bads boys back in the day in 96. Hence you get the Henleys with lego head haircut crowd...I know; my cousins are going tonight and I doubt they can name a single song from the previous 2 albums. I saw 2 scraps near us but I find in general at these things if you don't rise to it situations do dissipate. However, when you get two knobs with attitude who will rise to it you have a bomb waiting to go off (or several thousand it seems).

As for heaton park, it was a bad venue. I could barely see f all and settled for getting pissed and trying to listen...however the sound was substandard and all i could really hear was the crowd. We had some really nice people stood near us so there are nice folk that go to see em afterall. But it was funny to see a hoity toity family in front of us with little jonny and his brother dressed up to the nines dodging the cups of piss and beer..their facial expressions were hilarious (though I doubt they were seeing the funny side). The big screen were as much use as a chocolate fire guard also.

I am a massive Oasis fan and have been since back in the day but I do wish they would swap the set list around a bit more. The set list was basically the same as the one they played when I saw em at Echo arena in October. Theyre supposed to be promoted Dig Out Your Soul but only Shock Of The Lightening and Im Outta Time were included...I would have liked to have seen the Turning and Bag It Up including and also something off Standing On the Shoulder.

They nailed it at V last time the played...in my opinion the best of all the times Ive seen em so lets hope they nail it again!

I've seen Oasis 5 times and this was the worst for knob heads by far, I know what you are saying about expecting it to be like that but I didn't expect every scally in Manchester to be there, I did think they would be the minority not the majority.

In regard to the view, it was rubbish, I'm around 6 foot and couldn't see anything, why have a golden circle for 20,000 and then a massive gap back to the remaining 50,000 people? I've never been to a gig where you are not allowed to stand in front of the sound desk, if you turned up after 6pm you had no choice but to be stood miles back.

As for the set list, Oasis are being there own tribute band. Its been the same set list for the past 10 years now.

Well that was whole point of front bit 1st come 1st served you didn't have to pay extra for that you just had to get there earlier and they were still giving wristbands out after 6pm, i got mine at 5ish and when went out to bar there were still giving wristbands out - I actually thought it was good idea so if you had arrived several hours early u got the benefit of being near the front rather than some bugger tipping up for Oasis at 8.30 and pushing u out the way...

and as said earlier crowd was okay during oasis just madness the several hours running up to them, band on before oasis at V is gonna be carnage I reckon :D

went on saturday and it was the best time i have seen them out of the 5. Liam was on fine form vocaly and the additions to the setlist...roll with it, live forever, my big mouth and half the world away were quality. stood at the back of the front pen and had a great view and the sound was amazing, could have been louder tho. think the pen was needed due to safety but they should have really announced this from the begining so people would know to get there early, but they were still handing the wristbands out around 6pm.

Did think the big screens were really low tho, meaning people outside the pen would not be able to see them. i think i must have been lucky were i was stood too as i didnt encounter many knob heads and didnt get soaked once which was a plus. cant wait for V now just hope they keep the likes of my big mouth in the set. all in all a quality day

i saw oasis on the sunday, only complaint other than the gold circle (i turned up bout quarter to six and couldn't get in) was the sound was shite for kasabian, but at least everyone livened up towards the end of the set, songs like stuntman sounded completely flat though :/

Will never understand the appeal of the enemy, couple good songs at best, but everyone seems to buzz off them, oh well horses for courses.

As for oasis, i'd say they were on par with v05 really good, brilliant set as well mixing the acoustic numbers with the jump around like a loon anthems. It really does depend where u stand, i only had a couple of nobs try and square up which is expected at an oasis gig, bit better than the full blown rook me and my mates found ourselves in when some scum decided moshing meant try and twat everyone in sight, sad deluded headcases.

All in all for £20 can't complain :D other than the 5 mile walk home, yes i know it's a sunday but manchester council f**ked up royally there!

I saw them on Saturady.

Simple as this really.

1st Band. Shite.

Twisted wheel. very good.

The Enemy. Excellent

Kasabian. Utter Dog Shit.

Oasis. Awesome.

The only problem i had with the whole day was the piss throwers, there was alot more than normal thats for sure... still its only piss..

I agree with what you are saying however I didn't know anything about this and I know a good 20/30 other people who went who didn't either otherwise I would have got down there early myself. The only reason why I got there for around 6.30 was to be in the place for as little time as possible as I knew it would be full of knobs and thought I would get there in time for Kasabian.

Why didn't they actually let people know that there would be golden circle (the size of the MEN arena of 20,000) in front of the area where I could only get to.

I certainly wouldn't have paid £50 for the privilege to stand hundreds of metres from the stage at the very best where I could see nothing.

Ps - It may have been ok when Oasis came on where you were standing but trust me all the latecomers ended up in the back bit near me and it wasn't pretty!!!

I'm still surprised people are shocked at the antic of Oasis' fans! Were you not at V 05'? The atmosphere on the Oasis day sucked & I guarantee it'll be the same this year. Not tha it will be all bad but you just can't relax the way you usually can as there's the constant risk of piss (or a fist) hitting you.

A load of my mates went up Heaton Park on Saturday & said there was LOADS of fighting.

sounds like the venue was poor and it was chavtastic.

not sure i understand the set list complaint really. half of the songs they played are less than 10 years old and there are about 5 off the new album!

if you see an old band they do play 'the classics'

e.g......if you see weezer for instance they will almost always play say it aint so, undone, buddy holly, my name is jonas, sufwax usa, only in dreams etc!

being an oasis fan who has seen them about 9 times i would prefer them to play songs like boneheads bank holiday, married with children, colombia, it's gettin' better man, up in the sky etc but i dont think the majority of people would appreciate forking out £50 if they took off 'wonderwall' for one of these.

Yea I know what ur saying but I suppose i'm being a bit finicky. It would be nice if they through just a few wildcards in there. At a festival, yes JUST greatest hits but at ur own gigs u can get away with it. But when u can have a 25 song setlist that are ALL classic tunes.... i would have buzzed off it though if they played where did it all go wrong, magic pie, girl in the dirty shirt, its getting better man, columbia (which they were playing on the last tour). It was great when they started playing masterplan again on the last tour cos i love that song

don't they play the masterplan and my big mouth on this tour?

quite surprising as they usually slate this album themselves and critics have slated it (although they loved it initially). personally i love be here now as do most fans i know.
