umbrellas are they wrong at Glastonbury?

So, I'm watching a band in the rain and some idiot in front of me has their umbrella up.

Do I...

1 ignore it?

2 ask them nicely to put their umbrella down?

3 kick off and call them an idiot for having something in their hand that blatently restricts to view of the people behind them?

...come on people with umbrellas, a liitle rain isn't going to kill you. Stop being a bell-end and think about your fellow man.

..don't get me startesd on flags. They're just as bad but the peron holding them is about 50 people in front of you and you can't shout at them.

Mixed views. Confession first I take an umbrella to Glasto.

I've never used one in the street and hate them as I fear my eye will be poked out.

But I think they're fine when there is plenty of space and little risk of doing others damage.

At Glasto there are areas where there is plenty of space and I think they are fine used sensibly. For example, if we are sitting on the hill overlooking the Pyramid we'll probably set up chairs in an area of free space, after checking that we are not blocking anyone else's view. If it's blisteringly hot or hissing with rain I might even open the brolly.

But I would never walk round with a brolly open for fear of stabbing someone, particularly in a confined space.

I would happily use an umbrella at Glastonbury to shield me from the sun (hate it!) but I would only do this in an open space, I wouldn't walk around with it for fear of taking somebody's eye out!

As for using one in a crowd to shield from either rain or sun - that is a big no no! Completely selfish and I don't think I would be able to stop myself from saying something.
