I can just imagine you lot at Woodstock.

"Oh, good lord, I was just appreciating the finer nuances of Creedence Clearwater Revival when a rather unsavoury looking gentleman with long hair had the temerity to encroach upon my three-foot-radius personal tranquility zone. Not only that, but, unbelievably, he was actually talking to somebody, whilst the music was on. Naturally I left the festival immediately and wrote a pretty ruddy strong letter of complaint to the organisers. Its thanks to people like me that these festivals don't degenerate into blind, ugly fun."

It's unrealistic to expect everyone to stay in position during a gig...

But in saying that, it's undoubtedly rude to barge your way past people - yeah, move into where there's room and move with the crowd in the gig, whatever, but it's hugely inconsiderate to barge past people to the front. I'm sorry but you can't deny that.

You can forever say 'theres no rules/no one has any right to a place in a standing gig', and that's true, but surely you want to be atleast somewhat considerate to your fellow man? regardless of rules, don't you have any feeling that the person who has spent time waiting patiently for their favourite act standing at the front, deserves that place because of their patience?

Not to mention if everyone took the "i'm pushing to the front as there's no rules against it" - it'd be absolute chaos for everyone and no-one would ever get anywhere. Pushers have actually got a lot of thanking to do from those that stay in place meaning they themselves don't get pushed backwards.

It's not about rules - it's about being decent to your fellow man, and appreciating the effort/dedication others put in. :D

I've never really been one for getting right to the front anyway, but I find it easy enough to get far enough forward to be surrounded by fans of the band you're watching. I'm more responsive to people who say excuse me as opposed to those people that just barge into my back and expect me to let them stand right in front of me.

This thread is very sad.

It annoys me when people arrive late and push past me.........but then I let it go.....

There is really no point in remaining annoyed - what is that old saying? - "Resentment is like drinking poison yourself and expecting the other person to suffer" - something like that.

Anyway - it just came to me one time when a whole line of lads in their 20s traipsed through as I was waiting for an act to come on and one of them yelled "Dudes on a mission!" as he went past me and I thought "What a bunch of tw*ts!" and then it came to me - I was just sad that my days of "being on a mission" were long gone!

Glastonbury is as enjoyable as it ever was to me but it I would be lying if I said it was quite the adventure it was when I was younger - but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be for other people. Good Luck to the "Dudes on a mission" - they may seem a bit tosserish to my tired old eyes but they're just having the time of their lives!

...and it's just come to me that I don't remeber what band I was waiting to see, but the thought of the dudes on a mission still kind of makes me smile!
