Lions Game

Hey guys, I'm a massive rugby fan and I'll be going to my first Glasto this year. Just wondering if any of the bars or anything would have a telly showing the Irish and British Lions test match against SA on the Saturday?

I remember watching soccer at Roskilde and a small Irish festival so just wondering. It's not a huge deal, I can miss it and not care at all but if I know it's on then I can always think about going.

Also I'm guessing rugby union is not as universally popular in the UK as it is in Ireland so maybe it's a dumb question.

No. It's been asked in other threads. There are no plans to show the game.

Last year i remember walking past a burger stall that had a little TV and there was a big crowd watching the euro final.

i would like to see the rugby but doubt it will be shown anywhere

Another issue is that it's on Sky. Can't just get a stall to stick a TV on the counter with a small aerial.

It's possibly the biggest international this year. The British squad playing the current World Cup holders. And to be fair rugby fans are a much better crowd than your average football fan....

I guess this was from the point of view that English rugby fans are a bunch of obnoxious toffs.

You may have a point but generally they behave better than English football fans.

But the lions team this year has a minority of English players, and is being enthusiastically cheered on by Welsh and Irish fans of all backgrounds.

Try coming into my local in Swansea and saying that, you'll be lucky to leave with your teeth in place.

Anyway, it seems unlikely to be on as its to be played when bands are scheduled.

Last time (NZ) tour it was on early morning, and it wasn't a bad experience with a lot of Kiwi's there. It was also on Sky then.

That is bullshit. It has so much more value to some people than just an exhibtion game. It helps decide who wins the Lions Tour, the Lions or in this case South Africa.

The British squad?? Wow, what a bigot. Just take a look at the squad and you'll find that it's the non-British players driving the team. Who scored the tries against The Cheetahs? Who's the captain? Who's the vice-captain? What country had the most call-ups? (don't forget Flannery and O'Leary have gone home already and D'Arcy has been called up last week).

I think you'll find that the Grand Slam winning Irish are just as important to the team as you Brits. I hate that ignorant attitude that Brits, particularly English (cough..Brian Moore...twat...cough) have towards Irish being in the squad even though our players are leading the team. We're there too you know, it's certainly not a British squad.

British and Irish is fine. I'm not saying we're any better or more important overall. But there's a lot of non-Brits in the team, I think it's insulting to forget about them.
