Any one camping in the praxis tent field

I'm camping there this year as I'm bringing two Glasto virgins who found the Glasto experience quite daunting so this helps to ease them in gently.

I have done the standard camping thing and while I am going to miss maybe 1 or 2 aspects of camping in the festival there are so many other parts which outweigh the bits we probably won't even miss.

  • Park within 5-10 min walk of tent. Take more food, alcohol (glass is allowed as well, just not in to the main festival) and water. I'm doing 6 festivals this summer and can't afford to spend £20 a day just on food and water!

  • Don't have to lug stuff for miles. I have a bad back and trek in and out last year near enough screwed me over for the whole weekend!

  • We have toilets and showers which eased the worries of the virgins who maybe wouldn't have come without them. Also means I can have a mud wrestle and not worry about being caked for the rest of the weekend! There will of course be no rain so will have to make mud

  • We have a private entrance by Stone Circle so this will be the first thing the virgins see! Also very well placed for end of night staggering back to tent as it's in the right corner for late night mischief.

  • There is a freezer facility for freezing icepacks so can keep food and drink chilled.

  • We have a different route to take to get to the festival so should miss the majority of the traffic.

  • No queuing at main gate to get in.

  • If travelling from overseas people don't need to bring all of the equipment so helps them out no end.

I have started a Facebook group for everyone staying in the tented village (approx 1000) and there is a good community feel going on already. I won't feel at all detached from the festival and am not concerned that the Tented Village will lack soul.

I know these sort of facilities are normally shot down by some members of this board and that does make me sad. Not really in the spirit guys, we're all there for the same reasons!

What's it cost to camp there?

Had a look on the ###### site, but their pricing seems to have disappeared.

Might be useful for next year as some mates aren't too keen on camping.

if its only 60 quid its definately something i'd be interested in in the future..

i think it cost me £20 to get my tent to and from bristol from belfast on easyjet plus the whole keeping things cool thing is great.. couldnt give a monkeys about getting washed though :)

[*]Park within 5-10 min walk of tent.

you can be nearer to your tent than that in the main festival camping. And be far nearer the festival goings ons too, so do far less walking, both with and without kit.

And "5-10 minutes walking" is open to huge interpretation. Here's betting it's misleading marketing blurb, these things nearly always are.

[*]Don't have to lug stuff for miles. I have a bad back and trek in and out last year near enough screwed me over for the whole weekend!

see above.

[*]We have toilets and showers which eased the worries of the virgins who maybe wouldn't have come without them.

will the toilets be as well serviced as the festival toilets? I think it's unlikely, but I could of course be wrong.

[*]We have a private entrance by Stone Circle so this will be the first thing the virgins see! Also very well placed for end of night staggering back to tent as it's in the right corner for late night mischief.

there are places to camp even nearer to the late night stuff.

[*]No queuing at main gate to get in.

have never ever queued to get in having attended every festival since '86 (outside of the gates opening late on the day it opens, which will be exactly the same for anyone in any alternative campsite).

I know these sort of facilities are normally shot down by some members of this board and that does make me sad. Not really in the spirit guys, we're all there for the same reasons!

As my words above demonstrate, some of your reasoning doesn't stand up to scrutiny, and other parts of your reasoning might prove misplaced too (history with these sorts of things makes it extremely likely in fact).
