Any one camping in the praxis tent field

you can be nearer to your tent than that in the main festival camping. And be far nearer the festival goings ons too, so do far less walking, both with and without kit.

And "5-10 minutes walking" is open to huge interpretation. Here's betting it's misleading marketing blurb, these things nearly always are.

Last year I got to the site just after 8am Wednesday and there was a huge queue to get in, we were definitely queuing for at least an hour, I wasn’t clock watching though so can’t be precise. We will be issued our bands at the Praxistent site so won't have a big queue at the main gates to join.

I don't mind all the walking inside the festival though and enjoy it as I know I'm going to return home having lost some weight and toned ALOT! Plus early mornings/late night at stone circle? Perfect!

The map was sent to me by Praxistent with everything all on it already x

Gotta say that I'm in a similar kinda position to you and if it wasn't so expensive or relatively difficult to get to then I would certainly consider it also in the not too distant future. There's a lot of bollox been said in this (and other similar) threads IMHO - it's absolutely no different to using a campervan or staying off site in a guest house or hostel or going home at night if you happen to be local and so on. Sure, someone else is making money on the back of the festival and that may not be a particularly good thing in my view but then again, it's no different to any trader on site or even ME himself either. Just about everyone involved makes something out of the festival because they sure as hell wouldn't be there wasting their time/effort in perhaps the majority of cases otherwise !

As for "not experiencing the 'real' festival by not camping on site" and so on that's also complete and utter bollox IMHO. I use my tent for one thing and for one thing only and that's for just a couple of hours or so each day - having a kip ! Nothing else. Time spent at the tent is time DEFINITELY NOT spent enjoying the festival in my view. Simple as that really. I cannot understand why anyone would want to spend any time at all by their tent if it could possibly be avoided when there are 1000+ acres of site with 100's if not 1000's of venues, places, stalls etc. offering you everything you could ever possibly desire with most of which available almost 24/7.

Where my tent is is completely academic. However, how it gets there and how I cope getting to/from it on site is likely to become increasingly more of a problem :) I generally come alone, I don't drive so public transport is pretty much the only way and a camper or whatever is a non starter. I would personally consider something like this a viable option if/when needs must and providing finances were available but purely and simply to have somewhere to crash for a couple of hours every day without having to personally hump quite so much cr@p to the site ... and for no other reason whatsoever. Maybe I should just 'borrow' a random not in use at the time tent or any one of the poxy waste of space gazebos conveniently dotted around instead mind you as there would be no cost for that  other than dealing with the potential 'abuse' from the owners for invading 'their' space of course because staking a claim to your own private space inside the festival site and preventing 'outsiders' from accessing it does appear to be pretty much the acceptable thing to do these days :D which kinda pi$$es all over the argument for camping with everyone else on site being the 'right' thing to do of course doesn't it !!!!

I wouldn't worry too much about what I consider the seriously 'bad' attitude of some peeps in this thread as I don't believe that it is any way indicative of perhaps the majority of peeps here or those at the festival in general either for that matter. If you ever needed help or were seen to be struggling then I would be prepared to put a quite large sum of money on the fact you would get it without even asking. It never ceases to amaze me at Glasto that there are so many peeps who actually do care about others and are more than prepared to put themselves out to help some random and unkown person with some problem or other. So unlike the 'real world' :)

Friends of ours who we met camped there and said it was a awaste of money. The climb up the hill was so steep that the last couple hundred of yards actually had a hand rail so you could pull yourself up. Way too far away.

I stayed at the ###### site this year with my other half.

If I was to give a balanced view I'd say for us it was just about worth it.

It's not a cheap option, it didn't deliver on the facilities it said it would and it was a bloody steep hill!

Saying that having the car only a couple of hundred yards away was fantastic.

The showers really helped especially when it was very hot however you had to pick your time to use them if you didn't want to have to wait.

The toilets stayed clean all the way to Sunday (real bonus)

The catering was very poor and we only used it once (mainly due to the time it took)

It was a good walk back from anywhere apart from the Park and the Stone Circle.

The hill up to the gate was steep but the hill after the gate to the site was VERY STEEP.

You would struggle if not fully able.

They did provide golf buggy's to take people up and down and when they ran it worked a treat.

However not enough staff, no plan B and lots of complaining punters.

The big question is would I use them again.

And YES I would, ###### have listened to feedback and suggested the changes they will make next year (IF THEY ARE ALLOWED TO DO IT AGAIN)

I did hear the Mr Eavis visited the site and was not very happy with the set up.

However I'm sure he allowed it to keep his neighbour happy so I'm sure it'll be back in some form.

By having more staff, being a little more open and honest about what people will face when there and providing a more reliable transport process it will be worth staying.

And to anyone who say's that using this sort of site goes against the GLASTO spirit I'd say fooey!

I see no difference from this sort of site to using a campervan. For both you need to be able to spend a little more and that's all about individual choice

Cheers all see you in 2010
