or suspected reaches 3000, cases,

the festival will be closed on public safety grounds.

the numbers are already waaaaaaay past those and the govt knows it. They're just pretending it's different, via a screening process of those they'll actually check for swine fever in the first place.

They won't take any action until the autumn, because it'll stay low level (not many cases happening consecutively) until the autumn.

And for the current numbers of 621 (supposedly yesterday) that's a pretty big jump in numbers!

Just go, if you get pig flu while you are there just be thankful you were still at the festy and it wasnt cancelled because people got scared!

Besides...its a COW farm...no pigs anywhere! :lol:Except S&A Constabulary and I dont think they are contagious! :):)

is the reason the agency remains nameless because its the 'spurious bollox information agency'

quite simply - they cannot shut/close the festy unless they stop us all going to work/school/sporting activites etc ie life as we know it - and they wont do that!

basically, it will go ahead!!

Are the numbers really past that? How do you know? Not doubting just want to know your sources!

They won't have to close Glasto anyway, the biblical monsoon is gonna do that!

I went thru the "I possibly have swine flu" process.

Unless you've KNOWINGLY had contact with a sufferer (or have been to Mexico yourself) they say you cannot possibly have it. Which is laughable.

Doctors will tell you that they see hundreds of cases of flu each week, even at this time of year. They cannot distinguish between what is swine fever and what isn't by symptoms alone. So they will say "not swine fever" (on the basis above) without having a clue if it is or isn't.

And finally .... the guy who had the first diagnosed case (in Scotland) had attended a Doves concert between returning from Mexico and being diagnosed as having swine fever, with over 600 people at it. The official version is that not a single one of those 600+ people could have contracted swine fever. Again, laughable bollox.

They're simply pretending what can be and what can't be, without any way of knowing. Using standard flu transmission data (and there's nowt else to work this by), the real numbers would have been 20 times the claimed numbers weeks ago.

OK, I'm playing more the hurrumpf brother here.

We have 2 weeks to go, it could happen.

Now, if it happens when we are already there, if we get a case onsite, will they make us stay for a week or more extra? Just to stop us spreading it around the country (which will seem sensible). :)

Will this be forever known as Glastonbury 2009, the long one! :)

(And do they have enough beer/cider to sustain us!)

I don't need to know the govt info, cos it's worthless bollox. It's based on a worthless pretence on what can be and what can't be swine fever - I know this for certain, cos I've been thru the process myself in an area that had confirmed cases at the time I went thru the process.

The doctors and nurses I saw themselves know just how worthless the whole process is - so much so, that not a single one bothers with the protection methods they're advised to take, and will happily confirm what I've said. Just ask a few. :)

If you really have a contact in the agency dealing with the outbreak he/she would know that too, and wouldn't be so daft about the reality to give you the worthless bollox you've posted. :)

You've got a point here. I had 2 patients return from mexico with 'flu symptoms right at the start, but they didn't meet the very rigid criteria so I couldn't screen for it.

I wouldn't say a government conspiracy though.

Certain amount of scaremongering going on here, the death rate in Texas from my understanding has been less than the seasonal 'flu average, and they have a similarly advanced healthcare system to us. I am not an authority on this, so don't take this as fact, just my slightly better informed opinion than some of you may have heard. Blame the media, and producers of Tamiflu.

I'm not saying it's "a conspiracy", I'm saying that the govt is working things in a way which benefits them from all sorts of angles (including not over-loading the NHS).

The simple fact is that by having worked things in that way the numbers they're counting are almost meaningless, and it would be impossible for them to be unaware of that fact.
