THE PRODIGY

Compared to there live videos from around the time Fat of the Land came out they don't seem to be as good. They are still going to be epic, don't get me wrong, but there doesn't seem to be the same intensity. I saw them at Leeds in 02 and then again last year at Jersey Live and they didn't seem to have the same passion. But we shall wait and see....

Because Prodigy used to be a headline act after the success of Fat of the Land, thats when the headlined Reading (technically not Leeds as Guns and Roses headlined that festival in 2002). They then went quiet for a while and then released a pretty poor album (Always outnumbered, never outgunned) compared to previous stuff. This meant that people didn't want to book them and so they sort of slipped of the radar a bit. They then did a tour last summer and realeased a few singles earleir this year and then released Invaders Must Die, which is good but pales in comparison to Fat of the Land, because of this they have started to play Festivals again. However they are not "big" enough to bew headliners yet, obviously the band are huge but because of there long headline absence they will not headline a festival till next year. Another factor to take into account is that they are playing pretty much every big festival in the UK this summer, a lot of those festivals will have exclusive headliners and this will be written into the contract, which means that Arctic Monkeys will only be playing Reading and Leeds, but because Prodigy haven't been forced to be an exclusive act they can play anywhere they want. This means they can really build up their reputation as a fantastic live act.

having seen the prodigy on tv at glastonbury........

WHY/HOW ARE THEY PLAYING BELOW ARCTIC MONKEYS?!!?! i forgot just how good live they are.

if i were the arctic monkeys i'd ask festival republic to swap places.

i will watch arctic monkeys - i'm a fan - but what a come down they will be after the prodigy.

it will be embarassing!

I'm glad Arctic Monkeys are headlining - the only downside is that The Prodigy won't be in the dark for most of their set. Prodigy have played everywhere with the same set this year so if they did headline it would be a bit of an anticlimax whereas this will be Arctic Monkeys first UK show in 2 years and their first since the release of the new album. Apparently AM listen to Prodigy every show before going on stage so it is quite fitting.
