First time - where best to camp?

I was up at Pennards last year. Didn't see anyone searched, we were a sensible bunch in our mid-late thirties, and were surrounded by similar nice folk .....

edit ... well, kind of sensible

Last 3 times we've camped in the dance field, quite close to the dance village. Good location for stages etc, you can just about watch bands on the other stage from the tent. Ground did not get too muddy in 05 or 07. We want to try somewhere else this year though, open to suggestions! Thinking maybe Kidney Mead or that bit between Jazzworld and the glade.

Yeah, we've camped in Pennards every year we've been and it is full of bell-ends! Oh, and it gets really busy, sooo....

For your own good stay away from it this year!

Depends what you're after. Generalising wildly, Pennards does tend to be a bit noisier, which maybe what you're after (stay away from down near the railway line though - flood nightmare if wet). Same goes for the Park. Paines and Dairy tend to be a bit quieter. I was up at Wicket / Lime Kiln last time, and as has already been mentioned, pretty quiet, more so this year now the big Cinima screen has gone.

No idea what Cockmill, Big Ground and Kidney Mead are like. The latter is certainly too near the action for my liking, but then I tend to like my spliff's in a quieter more refelective space !!

I camped in Woodsies last time, my first, and found it to be a good spot. Very close to Gate A, which meant that I could get a pass-out and use the clean toilets just outside the Gate rather than queuing with everyone else for dirty toilets. Also convenient for a couple of decent breakfast bars and the lock-up.

It is a long way from most of the late night entertainment though.

Last year the Cinema field was quite noisy, but that's gone this year, so it should be quieter in Woodsies.

This year my mates want to camp in Dragon or Williams, I'm not so keen as reckon it gets very crowded up there.
