What to take

Guest lassy

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this has been done before but I can't find any posts...

I've been camping lots but it's going to be my first festival so I'm a but unsure of what to take, going to take the obvious bits,

Tent, sleeping bag, ground sheet, LED lantern

I don't know what else to pack. Think I'm going to take wellies and sandals, a coat, a few more bits of clothes, not sure what else.

Is there any essential or not needed stuff?

Thanks

Poncho (like my pic)

Dry shampoo/hat/headband

Spare Batteries

Money

Tickets

Phone

Disposable Camera

Wellies

Enough clothes for each day (and clean underwaer!)

Maybe a little gas stove and some food, depends whether you want to buy it all there

Suncream/hat/glasses (i'm being optimistic)

Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel

Toilet Roll/Pocket Tissues

That's all i can think of for now, there's prob more that needs to be added.

To be safe pack your kit in drybags (or poly / plastic bags / bin liner at a push) before you stick it in your rucksack - if it rains bad or something leaks you are Donald Ducked if you don't.

If you are driving or going in a friends car leave a clean t-shirt, pair of jeans or shorts and fresh socks in the car for the drive home as well as some clean trainers. Also a bin liner for your worn or dirty kit so you don't have to wash your car out too. If you go the bin liner route then use white for clothes, black for rubbish - you don't want to bin the t-shirt you bought at uni 3 years back because you picked the wrong bag up!

Other useful stuff:

1. Bin liner roll

2. Fleece or similar top (something you can wear when it goes dark as it can get cold, makes good pillow too)

3. Sleeping bag (obvious)

4. Possibly exchange the wellies for gore-tex hiking boots as they are better on slippy matting and more comfortable

5. Bottle for your water (if its warm you'll need it)

6. Towel / pack towel x 2 (if it chucks it down you want to dry yourself off even if you have dry soap)

Thanks for all the replies everyone

Have another question though! There is 4 of us going, we are planning to all stay together in a 6 man tent, do u reckon there will be enough room to pitch it? Getting there friday late afternoon.

I'd stick with the 6 man tent and possibly buy a little cheap asda/tesco-£5-wonder. to dump your food and beer in.

If you get a huge tent you'll have even more of an issue getting a pitch on friday arvo!!! :(

Oooooor . . . you could limit what you take?!? Mad idea, I know, but sometimes it really does help!

Hmm i would of said don't take a 6 man tent as its at risk for thiefs as it stands out. But i go to the chelmsford V so i dunno what little theifing gits are like at Staffs!

BARE ESSENTIALS:

1. wetwipes/babywipes

2. alchomahol

3. money

4. tent

5. deoderant

6. spare t-shirts and undercrackers

7. YOUR TICKET!

Last year, we also took

Lots of fairy lights, that did not work after first half hour

2,000 glow sticks that we split open and chucked all over our tents

Plastic champagne classes

A full tray of musical instruments

Blow up inflatable chairs but have worked out it is better to buy them there for £10 already blown up and leave them.

A collection of about 20 wigs

Lots of glasses and false hair plaites to put hair back

Tu Tu's

We brought own own portaloo and Toilet tent to put it in but after the lads had used it we felt saver in the publi loos and everyone tried to pull the tent down whilst sat on the toilet
