FrayBentos
The clash between Neil Young (Pyramid stage) and Animal Collective (Park Stage), i can see this being a difficult one When i first saw the lineup, i didn't mind too much because i just decided i would see Neil Young because it will probably be my only chance to ever see him But the more i think about it, i only really like a few of his songs, these are generally the more mellow ones like Old Man, Harvest Moon etc. When it comes to his more rockier im usually not that interested (although there is loads of stuff i haven't heard by him), so i coming to the conclusion that i might just stand waiting for songs rather than enjoying the gig Whereas with Animal Collective, there new album is one of my favourite albums in recent times and imagine they will class especially at the Park stage which i really enjoyed last year. Can anyone help my quandary? can anyone recommend any Neil Young stuff which might turn me back? and how good are Animal Collective live? P.S This is probably all irrelevant because on the friday night, ill prob just make the right decision based on my current mental state anyway, but this is nice way to waste some time at work
lazzaa
Im having the same dilemma, throw in Ray Davies intio the mix and its a really difficult choice!

FrayBentos
Plus im not sure if any of people im going with like Animal Collective And also i will probably be spending too much time at the Pyramid Stage this year I think Animal Collective are winning even if i have to go by myself Edited June 16, 2009 by FrayBentos
Snodgrass
If I went to see Neil Young it would be on the strength of his 'legendary' status and owning Harvest Moon and After the Goldrush. I've decided that's not enough! So will head off and see whatever comes my way, but Animal Collective is winning so far.
Sweep
Neil Young starts at 10, Animal Collective start after 11. Go to Neil Young, and see how you feel from there. I'll probably end up seeing both. Tis the beauty of these longer headliner sets on the Pyramid.

Moogles
Animal Collective wins for me. Merriweather Post Pavilion is sublime and I reckon Animal Collective would work really well with the setting.

titch juicy
the is my one true fooker of a clash too....i've seen both before and both are excellent so it might come down to the specials vs the horrors! (before anyone laughs- the horrors recent album is really rather superb) BUT- i know i will be at the pyramid for fleet foxes- absolutelynoteventhemeresthintofaquestion....was also lucky enough to see these at roundhouse earlier this year and cannot overstate how good they were- throw in some afternoon sun, a big cold cider from the bus and a spliff, and you've got the makings of a classic glasto set

FrayBentos
I had a similar dilema. However, I've recently well got into Neil Young, my mate who I'm going with is a huge fan, and returning friends from Primavera said he was incredible. I do love Animal Collective and they're brilliant live, but it would just annoy me - it will blatantly be a crowd of people waiting for "My Girls" and then leaving Edited June 16, 2009 by FrayBentos
robith
I doubt that, i can't imagine people who would enjoy that song would only want to see that song, its not even the most poppy / dancey song on that album

windy_miller
I'm having a similar Neil Young / Animal Collective Dilemma. Although for me, I prefer his rockier stuff and can't be bothered with the slower, acoustic stuff. Am currently listening to Neil Young's Greatest Hits on Spotify, and to be honest, its veering me towards Animal Collective.
FrayBentos
My point was mainly it will be (no offence) loads of people who think MPP is the only thing they've ever done, and that at festivals really annoys me because try as I may to avoid it, I'm a massive snob, so it's best for everyone if I'm somewhere else

windy_miller
No offence taken, im probably a bit of music snob myself. I own Strawberry Jam and have listened to most of their other stuff but in my opinion their new album is their best album both because not only does it contain some of their most catchy songs but also because it is a more coherent and complete album than any of their other albums in my opinion, so there is no suprise that that some people will go there to hear that album. I think i would have probably always picked Neil Young in this instance if it was not for their recent album so im kinda one of them even though i do like their older stuff too. Obviously the word catchy has probably no relevance to a large sector of their fans who probably enjoy their more experimental stuff but you shouldn't be put off by other fans becasue they are not one of these. robith
Some of AC's older stuff is unlistenable... have you tried listening to Danse Manatee?! I'm prepared to let them get away with all their previous wrong-doings because all that bizarre experimentation has finally culminated in an absolutely blinding album. Strawberry Jam is also really good, in fact some of my favourite AC songs are on that album (Reverend Green, Cuckoo Cuckoo)
