Going down on Saturday. We make sure all the gates are working OK and help the Oxfam crews with any problems, etc. We will be doing briefings on Saturday evening and tehn going out early Sunday morning to check the vehicle gates, etc. We then start the 'proper' shifts on Wednesday, split into 12-hour day and night shifts.

Have sympathy for you Red, they are long shifts doing that wristbanding and you get no thanks for it most of the time!

I agree it's great fun to be there when things are still being built. To be able to wander round the site and see all the poles and bins being painted, stages and gates being built, marquees going up and just colour everywhere. Almost spoils it when the gates open on Wednesday morning!

I'm in on Tuesday ready to start shifts from Wednesday 8am onwards as campsite steward.

It is a bit cushy, but you are there to do a job and are working, I enjoy helping out people and looking out for everyone.

The biggest downside for me this year is that I'm gonna miss Rolf Harris :(

not cushy at all i'm afraid. i'm a wristbander. i usually to 2 - 12 hour shifts over Wed and thurs. my arms KILL by the end of it but it's still wicked fun :( there are negatives to the job like not getting breaks and dealing with assholes but the positives outweigh all that.

william: i'm actually a laaaaaaaaady!

I hate it for two reasons. I dont like seeing the site pulled appart, and when your working on site after the event all your facilitys slowly disappear so you end up camped in a fild with no fence, no shower, no cafe and a toilet if your lucky.

Each to there own though. I find my day after a festival sleeping on the settee in front of the telly cathartic. That and every so often buying a whole new set of pants or socks and throwing all the old ones away.
