So here I am, recently celebrated my 72nd birthday and about to make my first ever appearance at a Glastonbury festival. Now dont laugh, I've been a music fan since I was knee high to a grasshopper, and my music collection dates from the 50's through to Kings of Leon and the Foo Fighters. Still. I didn't really envisage 2009 including any music festivals. Until, that is, my grandson formed a band 18 months ago. 70 gigs later they have won a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage, by virtue of winning the Avon and Somerset Battle of the Bands competition judged by Michael Eavis himself and Kieron Pepper.

They are THE FUEL and are playing on Sunday at 12-30 ish. Take 20 minutes out and wander over to the Introducing stage and enjoy them. The link is an amateur video of the boys playing in the final at Bristol's Colston Hall in front of a thousand fans. The boys are only 17 and 18

That's brilliant elkel :)

I hope you have a fantastic Glasto, I'm sure you're going to LOVE it! Best of luck to your grandson too :D

This may sound like a daft question, but you're not a member of GR, are you???

There's a topic somewhere on the boards about what Glastonbury means to everyone . . . for me, this is it . . .

A festival that's attractive to everyone, of all ages and one that encourages and gives great opportunities to emerging talent.

Good luck to your grandson, you'll have a fab time!

You're never too old for Glasto. Remember the man who stole the show last year was Leonard Cohen aged 73.

Have a great one but be prepared for some walking. There's a lot to see and the site is huge. But maybe as a special guest they'll lay on some transport. Otherwise there's always the Monorail.
