It's both really: they do have a zero tolerance policy so anything you're caught with will be taken of you and you'll probably have to go through a full search - not sure how thorough this is :)

...But they don't check everyone. Best not to take the risk really and decant into plastic bottles. We usually get supermarket own 2ltr bottles of water for about 8p and pour our spirits and mizer into one of those.

...please don't take glass! have a great festie :)

Edit; Just to add, nothing is really zero tolerance at Glasto...it really is one of the only festivals where you are treated like an adult and allowed to make your own decisions...but in general people love their festival and want to see it continue like it is, so requests (rather than rules) are most usually followed...obviously with 170,000 people on site not by everybody, but most :)

We have taken glass before when my kids were teenagers and drinking alcopops but looked after it very carefully :D

We packed it all in a big plastic crate type box with clothing padding it and had the whole lot tied onto a trolley with the tent tied on top. We were stopped and the guy said he needed to search our stuff. I looked horrified and asked him did I seriously need to untie everythiing so he either took pity or couldn't be bothered and just kicked the crate several times to see if anything rattled.

My heart couldn't take the stress in later years so I just made them drink summat else :D
