3 nights at Heaton Park + 3 nights at Wembley = 6 total nights.

Its true what they say about education standards slipping in this country. People can't even read or do math correctly anymore.

Indie bands usually trump over Rock legends at festivals. Take Leeds 2005. The Killers were on before Pixies and the crowd for The Killers dwarfed the Pixies crowd. In fact, more people saw Kasabian instead of Pixies as it happens.

:D:P .....

And of course, that has absolutely nothing to do with the huge majority of the people at that fest being aged 18-20 and so not having much of a clue who Pixies are, eh? :D

Are you mad!? They will all be in their mid-seventies in 30 years!

I was working that as them having a 30 year career, not a "30 years from now" career.

Seeing as they're around 20 years into it all ready, they're most of the way there. Kasabian haven't hit 10 years yet, and it's not like they're going anywhere.

No it doesn't, saying kasabian sold out Heaton Park and Wembley 6 nights, when they did/will do 6 nights at those two venues implies exactly what i intended it to. Don't blame me if you should of gone to specsavers.

Let's just face it, the record industry is in a complete and utter state.

Yes, Kasabian are a prettey good band but no one will have a clue who they are in like 30 years time. Maybe the people who were brought up in this era will but no one else will, they have made no significant impact to modern day music therefore nobody will commend them for anything in like 30 years. The same goes to The Killers, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand infact all of the current modern day indie bands. Springsteen has made a significant impact to the modern music of today, and his social commentry and ways of writing music has inspired even the younger generations to write music. Have Kasabian inspired as many people to write music? no. I am not a huge fan, but Springsteen has produced so many seminal albums that he will be remembered in 30 years time and people will want to continue his legacy, therefore, he will always turn out to be the most popular artist. And I would like to point out too: Springsteen has sold out on a WORLD WIDE scale, not just in the uk. I bet if you go up to any american and ask who Kasabian is, they wouldn't have a clue.

Cheers,

As much as I love Kasabian and they should be getting a headline slot at this stage (the Friday would have been good), when Eavis has the chance of getting Bruce, Young and Blur theres no need for them to do so especially as they themselves seem to be quite happy with "supporting" Bruce.

On the topic of band longevity - Muse have been going 15 odd years havn't they? They could possibly go for another 15 :P

Okay just had a quick look through some of discographies of older acts which are still popular today. ALL of them had a album generally considered great within their first 3 albums, thus since I can't think of any current act which has done that (bar say Radiohead, Oasis etc who are getting on a bit anyway) then perhaps there is no current act who will last.
