Offset Festival

Consistently good, and consistently cheap! £45 for the full weekend, with about 150 artists and 6 stages...

Headliners this year are The Horrors on Sunday, with the Slits, The Futureheads, A Certain Ratio, Good Shoes, Hatcham Social, Future of the Left, Jesus and Mary Chain, Kap Bambino etc.

They have a beautiful forest location, rare breeds farm, comedy tent, dance tent and it's on the end of a tube line - but a real escape from London!

Very cool festival - last year was great and this year looks even better.

Just heard about it at the weekend. I'm going if only because Damo Suzuki (ex Can) is playing, A Certain Ratio and of course The Slits (will they bring their washing line :-).. oh, and it's only about 7m away... Jeez... I could get a cab there.

Anyone know what the rules on taking booze in are (can you, in which case the Ice Bucket is coming with me), is it a cash bar or is it those bloody token things.

I was a bit depressed that the summer was coming to an end and, fancying a wee bit more festie action before winter decided at short notice to get day tickets for the Saturday for myself and Mrs. Carpetburn. We also took our two girls (under 12s got in free). Good value I have to say, and even the food & drink was priced reasonably compared to other fests I'd been to this year. They even had Adnams :D

It's a very compact site shaped a bit like a polo mint, with all the stages arranged around a central backstage area and all the punters having a circular access to the stages, tents, bars etc.

Had the feel a bit of a village fete with a decent soundtrack. Fair few scenesters in evidence but overall it was a nice relaxed atmosphere with most there first & foremost for the music. You get the feeling from the well put-together line up it's a labour of love for the organisers.

Capacity is 5,000. Main Stage is the main draw and the supporting tents are quite small but not too difficult to get to the front of any of them.

I enjoyed Future Of The Left, also KASMS, Bombay Bicycle Club, Friendship, Cold Pumas and The Futureheads. The girls loved ROMANCE in the ECC tent. Gutted to miss Metronomy but the girls ran out of steam. Still, we were back home within the hour.

Hope to go back for more next year.
