the Barrier really is sensible for a crowd that size. Means that any major crush with tens of thousands involved is unlikely.

what they could do is have the barrier going much further out and have more restricted access to it in terms of turnsyles / gates.

However having gotten into the barrier before Lily Allen and Blur sets I found it quite workable. Ok, a bit of a squeeze but I think helps to create a better atmosphere than if they had gates as per my suggestion (they have at T and I assume most similar fests).

just thought it seemed to bit smaller than last year

and the people who set up camp in there for the whole day complete with chairs are idots

i agree that they need the barrier! i was at the front barrier for madness and there where surges that some people had to bail out from.

however i think they could just open out the sides to allow more people in and out at the end of sets.

First year at Glasto, so I can't tell if it was closer or not. However, at Reading it appears to be 2 or 3 times further back from the stage and works a lot better as a result.

The last time I went was 2007 and the sides of the barrier were definately further forwards this year, you could see the additional metal coloured ends that didnt match the black centre.

Would be useful if there were markers at each end so you know where you're going when you're in a crowd, perhaps poles or a small light

It needs to be a bit further back as you're restricting an area of the arena that the majority of people want to be in. However, i didnt think it was THAT bad last night.

Hey, maybe we have the chair brigade to thank - surely crowd surges are now a thing of the past and they can get rid of that barrier completely, 50,000 people are no match for row after row of 7 quid plastic chairs!!!
