No Camping Chairs / Flags beyond this point.

While flags can be annoying I’ve learnt to live with it and doesn’t bother me that much. Chairs are also fine if people are sitting at the back but this year a couple of times at the Dance world stages and other stage there were people sitting in their chairs less then 10 metres from the front. Selfish pointless and stupid, they can’t see a thing from that close, and they seem bewildered when everyone around them starts jumping around and bumping/tripping over them.

1st come 1st served.

there were sum old folk camping @ front of pyramid all day from 10am holding out for madness i think. sum girl got behind them about 10 mins before tom jones came on and ask her to move up, she point blank said NO. and the girl was like 'yea but thats space for 4 people'. the woman told her she was disabled and needed the chair regularly. in the end the girl lost after i piped up sayin she had been camped since 10am.

the girl turns up minutes before and DEMANDS that sum1 thats been there since 10am MOVE up?! HILARIOUS!

If people are too fat / lazy/ incapable of standing for any length of time they shouldn't be at the front at a standing gig, there is plenty of space in the back ot the field to sit, wheelchair users have to use the viewing platform at the top of the hill. It's a simple health and safety issue, in a dark crowd chairs are a trip hazard and prevent the crowd entering and exiting the front of the stage area, the OP has it spot on.

I agree with bombfrog. The number of times we would stand in someones view who was sitting down and they would tut and get disgruntled. If you wanna see someone make an effort and stand up and dance.

However it didn't bother me too much and I still had a great time.

So, by your "first come first served" logic I could turn up at 7am in front of the pyramid and tape off an area for me and my mates, maybe start a fire and pitch a tent? As long as I get there first I can do whatever I like, right?

no tents allowed.... try again...

No, that's not the way it works! There are disabled viewing platforms for those that are genuinely disabled, so if you can't stand up then go there, you get a much better view than you would sitting in a chair behind a load of people standing up anyway!

Why are people so bloody selfish?

i actually love the flags they give it such a great feel, the more the better imo if you are that far back they get in your way then i doubt you can see much of whats going on on the stage anyway.

but those c**ts with the f**king chairs need to f**k right off, especially when they get up out of the chairs and leave the chairs unfolded for you fall over and when you knock them they turn round and give you dirty looks for knocking the bloody things!

It's a festival with over 175,000 people on-site... don't be surprised if some people do things that you find annoying; Glastonbury is one of the least restricted big festivals in the UK and should be appreciated for it.

For the record, at the Speakers Forum, Michael didn't seem moved to do anything about chairs in the arena, but was vaguely more interested in the flag problem - if they were causing problems with the TV pictures / screens.

Remember: The sooner you start banning things you don't like, the sooner they'll ban something you do like!
