How long did it take you to get back?

We were in West 25 and got back to the car around 8am. Didn't move an inch for about 45 minutes, but once things started moving it wasn't too bad. Probably took us 90 minutes or so in total to get off site. The drive back to the M5 wasn't bad, it did queue up a bit nearer the motorway, but that was due to the temporary traffic lights, and the traffic did keep moving.

Got up at 5am, packed the tent up (had done everything else yesterday morning) and were sitting in the car at 6:30am. Got off site at 7:15am, and were sitting on my girlfriend's parents' patio in North Yorkshire having a bbq by 3pm. Actually got back to Newcastle at 8ish, but not a bad day all told.

Got to the car at 9:10am. Took just over an hour to get back. I think it helped that we were parked extremely close to the main exit (W29 I think) so we didnt have to queue for long.

Complete contrast to getting there on the Wednesday evening. Left Bridgwater (about 16 miles away) at 7:30 pm and arrived on site at three in the morning. I would just like to thank the person who invented eye spy, animal vegetable mineral, and whiskey for helping me get through that journey :P

We came out by camper at 7:30am from E17. Slow moving queue as we merged in with the car traffic, but once out on A37 (maybe took half an hour?) was clear as a bell. That was, until a window decided to snap off on the road. And then we stopped at a service station and another window fell out. Quality campervan!

Looks like the West car parks had the problems.

Had a little lay-in this morning and woke at 5.45am rather than 4am. Massive bloody shower was annoying but we got packed up quickly and made it to the car. No real waiting to get out and no hold ups on the roads. Two cans of red bull and we were back in Berks. Alas I had to get a train and then the underground a bus from there but I was still back in my flat for 1pm. All good.

ha, i got in the car park at half two, then we didnt move for just under 3 hours :P that was in w35. there was lines of traffic just sleeping in there cars when we walked back. once the traffic started moving it was clear sailing tho! i talked to someone who had been waiting there for 5 hours! it was so poorly organised

We left on Sunday evening, so got out in about 5 mins - we didn't want another 8 hour queue to get out, like the one to get in on Wed - that really was taking the piss, and when you have kids in the car, and you know you have to get organised and walk into the site in the dark, it's bloody silly.

Apart from that, I thought it was great.

woke up at 7.15 am in camper vans e17.. quick toilet stop, wound up stabilizers and off at 7.20 am. Drove straight out of E17 to the site exit, and then about 5 minutes later we were on the A37 heading South.

Drove off with wife and kids still in bed, and there stayed there til we ggot home !

No real issues on the A303 apart from one small section around Chicklade.

We were home, approx 80 miles away before 10am, even after a 15 minute stop for my breakfast on the way !

wanted to add my car park nightmare for the sake of prosterity.

ninth Glasto, so consider myself experienced and well versed in the Glasto Car Parking scenario However...

packed up and in my car by 1am in w34 (headed out at the top of the field into w36) didn't move until 4.30am! my brother and his girlfriend snoring gently in my ear, i'd got out and spoke to the other drivers around me and we'd heard that the traffic marshalls weren't letting anyone out until 8am - my worst nightmare (unfortunately as soon as i arrive at Glasto i do start worrying about getting out after a particuarly bad year of a 9 hour wait with no toilets, water or fags!) anyway, we'd all agreed that we'd turn off the lights, engines and try and get some sleep and if we started moving we'd give each other a 'honk' to wake up.

one lad turned round and tried escaping from the other end, we swaped numbers to let each other know the progress -very Glasto i think!

got to the first services and had to pull off for both my safety and the safety of others as i couldn't focus. dozed for an hour and a half, grabbed a coffee and off i went again back to Brum to drop off bro. for the last hour i was delerious, singing at the top of my voice, window fully open, think i've scared my brothers girlfriend for life! when i pulled up and my mum and dad came to the door, apparently i smiled then broke down in tears and had to be guided to bed. horrible experience.

i've told my brother he better pass his bloody driving test for next year.

i know i shouldn't have done this and i wasn't under the influence, didn't drink all day, but i wanted to share with all you lucky buggers who got out in ten minutes.

am seriously thinking of emailing Glastonbury asking for marshalls at every exit to at least keep us informed, as the worst thing was thinking we'd been forgotten about. why not a couple of portaloo's in each field? or a rip off merchant selling water, ice cream etc - they'd make a killing!

anyway, another fantastic glasto!

Got to the bus stop at 6.30 this morning to catch the bus to Temple Meads. Bit of a queue but buses were supposed to be every hour.

1 bus turned up between 6.30 and 10.30!!!! :P

Too make it worse the Steward told everyone to push forward (the queue was almost single file with noone pushing) which meant we stood huddled together like cattle for a few hours waiting for the bus.

Tempers started to flair when we kept on getting fobbed off with "6 buses on their way" which changed to "2 buses are on their way"

Eventually 5 buses turned up at 10.30 ish and ended up getting back to Swindon at 14.00!!

Put a bit of a dampener on the weekend and decided that was my last Glastonbury  (still love the place though)

Left immediately after Blur - got out of W24 by 1am and headed up the M5 where I got a couple of hours kip at Strensham services (i promised my other half that I wouldn't be home & therefore wake her before 6am so decided to have some sleep!!!)

Left there at 4:20am and arrived home in Wakefield at 6:45am - discounting the 2 hours kip, 3 hours 45 mins from getting into the car & walking into my front door.

I lost all track of time after Blur. Partly due to drinking an entire crate of beer, so as not to waste it, I got extremely drunk, raved around in the rain for a while, it stopped, I got the bus, then train back to Reading, got a train at 1.04, including train journey and walk home, got home at half one.

i was in west 25, saw prodigy and left the other stage at 23:50, so back to car about midnight and didnt get off site then until 04:25 - mind u, felt quite sorry for the blokes in front of me in a 50 yr old blue landrover that broke down. Steward said to me "the car in front has broken down, you could go across that way or just drive through the gap, but i'd prefer it if u just waited there a bit to let the congestion die down" - basically wanted me to wait in a Q that wasnt going anywhere instead of just moving the Q to another part of the field which was closer to the exit line of cars - idiot. they just didnt have a in the west car parks... felt sorry for the one quite young female steward who was doing her best getting cars organised and filtering into the stream of traffic but when she stopped one car to let another in she got a fair amount of abuse - if the stewards are doing something active to help fine, but if they arent doing a thing then thats when they need a gentle reminder..

About three and-a-half hours from starting up the van to arriving back in Bristol. Took an hour to get out of the car park due to useless stewards. There was lots of traffic on the A37, so we went along some country lanes and skipped all the traffic! :D
