Drumming at Stone circle.

A steward appeared at the Stone circle at 2.50am Sunday telling the drummers to stop drumming at 3.00AM DUE TO A NOISE CURFEW!

at 3.am he returned and instructed the drummers to stop, or he would get security to remove them from site..

They stopped !!

Just couln't believe this was happening, a lot of shouting and chanting the steward walked away and drumming continued with some serious passion !

Yet another thing... to show how the festi has evolved?

WHEN are we going to get the 2 Glastos that appear to be needed to be created...

the under 24 year old one for the young uns that enjoy wrecking the place, being rude, needing to be quiet and sit on chairs the whole time and in beddy byes by 3am...

and the 25 and over Glasto vet fest with all the love, respect, memories and appreciation for all things Glasto?

The lack of drumming started to occur about 5 years ago and I knew it was pointless even getting bothered by it this year as that tradition is well and truly dead now more or less.

Just got bothered by pretty much everything else and seriously considered not returning next year BUT when I visited SL after the rainstorm on Monday morning 2am, a lovely surprise to find not one kid there cos they were all tucked up in bed leaving us hardcore true G heads to claim our festy back! :(

Really? You can't think that there could be a term in the license that requires them to have a noise curfew in all but a few areas of the site?

I don't know about you but when I was 18 I'd happily stay up all night getting involved but now I'm the wrong side of 30 I can't keep up with the kids any more.

I think it is dreadful stopping the drummers at the stone circle, never heard of anything so silly and I think it needs looking into even though to be honest the drummers get on my nerves a bit. However, I would hate to be at a festival with just over 25s. I am 37 and please can I go to the young people's festival I don't want to be with a load of old people! Thre best people I met and travelled don with were all under 25. I was 17 when I first went to Glastonbury I think and it was the ix of ages that made it so good as it still is now, yes there are annoying people but there always were I am sure.

just to add to the record. i went to the stone circle on 3 mornings some time (not quite sure when) after 4am and all three times the drummers were playing at full volume. as far as i could see they had been there for some time and they remained there for the whole time i was there.

this should probably be taken into consideration on this whole silly argument.

i've got to agree, i don't think age really has any bearing on behaviour at the festiva apart from the obvious (say under-14 or over-50). we had some 23 year old dickheads next to us who stole things from us and sat up all night taking ketamine.

having said that, me and my mates are all between 18 and 20 and we spent the evenings wondering around shangri-la, trash city and the stone circle/peace tent until 6-7am. i would say that we perfectly well understood the meaning of the festival. i saw loads of other people doing the same thing. of all ages, including many in the under-24 category.

its very easy to rush to criticize something that you've had an eye out for, but i really don;t think this has been a problem at the festival this year. i saw many people my age have fun 'old school' to put it in one way.

I was watching this woman with a laminated ID around her neck with a giant "A" on it, selling those little ballons one night. I *might* have had a few too many beers though, and perhaps not been as discrete as some, because she seemed to pack it all away after me staring at her for some time. Whoops.

Does anyone know what the ID meant, by the way? Forgot to ask.

Hey I'm 41 and consider myself a bit of a Glasto veteran (been for the last 12 years). I really enjoy seeing the mix of ages at the fest and have never noticed any kind of 'divide' between young and old. People are always very friendly and it's what makes Glasto so much better than say Leeds Fest where the crowd appears to be so much younger.

ANYWAY! Back to the Stone Circle, I spent one of the best nights of my entire life up there on Saturday night / Sunday morning. I dont recall the drummers stopping for more than a couple of mins at a time and they were definitely still jamming when the sun came up. More importanly - WHO WERE THE TRIPPY BAND that were jamming along up there for a few hours??? Think their amps were being powered by some temporary generator. They made some truly gorgeous sounds .... Can anyone help with a name?
